However, the effects will not stack (not even with bracers and mundane armor). Bracers of armor, and worn armor (magical or not) provide an Armor bonus to AC. Bonuses of the same type (excluding dodge, circumstance and unnamed) do not stack.

05-24-05, 11:09 AM Also note that your enhancement bonus from your magical armor doesn't stack with the armor bonus from your bracers of armor. The enhancement bonus increases the armor bonus of the armor, which you then compare against the bracers to use the larger bonus.

So if you have a +3 chain shirt and +6 bracers of armor, the chain shirt provides a +7 armor bonus which overrides the +6 bracers.

However - against an incorporal touch attack, you could use the +6 bracers instead of the armor, since it's the better option. As a force effect, bracers of armor are effective against incorporal touch attacks, unlike regular armor.

That's about the only reason to wear both.

05-24-05, 01:06 PM Actually, a good reason to wear both is to get ub3r enchantments. Bracers of Armor +8 +5 worth of enchant and Armor +1 (min) +9 left. That leaves you with comporable AC - that also applies to incorpreal - and +14 worth of enchantments to add up. Not to mention all the other advantages of bracers - ACP, resting, encumberance, etc.

Can you explain this? Are you saying you can put other enchantments on Bracers of Armor? I remember you could (as per the Arms & Equipment guide in v3.0), but haven't seen anything for v3.5

05-25-05, 03:51 AM No clue meself, just heard it here (on the boards). Though, you can see from the Bracers included in the DMG that they can be enchanted in similar fashions as armor.

After seeing the thread, I re-read the description:

These items appear to be wrist or arm guards. They surround the wearer with an invisible but tangible field of force, granting him an armor bonus of +1 to +8, just as though he were wearing armor. Both bracers must be worn for the magic to be effective.

All the description says they provide is an armor bonus, not even an enhancement to armor bonus. So I'm not sure how they can be enchanted with other armor enchanements, unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying or not saying armor enchancement correctly.

When I say armor enhancement, I mean things like fortification, etc. which you can put on armor.
