They are a set of Bracers when activated cast mage armor CL 1. (1 hour duration) They are useable 3 time per day. I used the standard cost for creating a magic item and it came out to a base price of 1080 gold So it cost me 540 to make it and 43 exp. 1. Is do you think bracers is the right slot for this type of item. 2. Do you think this is a balanced item? Reason I'm asking is one player thought that they were unfair and should be priced as +4 armor. DM and most other players didn't agree but people here have pretty good insight so I'd like to hear what you all think  |

The proper price for an item that creates +4 AC is exactly identical to Bracers of Armor +4, or 16,000 gp. Making it only 3/day, could cut the price to 3/5 of that or about 9,600 gp. Also, don't bother using those same rules creating: Anything of true strike Anything of Charm Person Anything of Shield Spell Anything of Healing. Attempting to claim they are first level spells and count as 2,000 gp or worse 1,800 gp base price is a sure way to be humiliated on these boards. |

It even says to adjust the prices higher or lower depending upon how much the item appears to be worth. 3) Pricing an item as a spell is not the best way to price a magical item, especially if it gives a bonus that already has other price guidelines (in this case, an armor bonus). It is more appropriately priced by the bonus, not the spell the benefit comes from. |
