Well I have run into a unique situation. My dm gave us all a plot specific magical amulet. Now I am not complaining because the amulet does really great things, but I did lose the use of my Amulet of natural armor +3. So I was thinking, I still have my bracers slot open and was looking into making bracers of natural armor.

So I looked up the cost to create. says Natural armor = bonus squared * 2000. So for +3 I would get 3 * 3 * 2000 = 18,000. That would be great. Is there anything I am overlooking.

Another slightly related question... When you are creating items, say a ring of protection, how do you determine the type bonus you get. Say protectin bonus vs. nat armor bonus vs. some other bonus. Do you just declare what you are creating when you start?

Thanks.

The bonus type does two things:

1) It affects the price. The most common bonus type is cheaper, but of course won't stack with others.

2) The spell/ability you use as a pre-req to make the item should be of the same type as that of the magic item you create. That is, if you create an item using Mage Armor, it grants an Armor bonus, not a Natural Armor, and of course, it should be [Force]

Plus if you move an item from an approved slot to another slot, it make increase the cost by 1.5 times due to slot affinity.

Bracers that boost natural armor already exist in the Draconomicon.
