Bracers of Returning Throws - opinions [Archive] - Wizards Community

the recent Races of the Wild excerpt (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20050204a&page=4) inspired me to make the following magic item. Do you think it's balanced?

Gauntlets of Returning Throws: These gauntlets are adorned with embroided images of throwing daggers and axes. As a free action, the wearer can activate the power of the gauntlets, granting all her thrown weapons the returning weapon enhancement for up to 10 rounds each day. The duration of this effect need not be consecutive rounds.
Moderate transmutation; CL 10th; Craft Wondrous Item, returning weapon; Price 8,000 gp; Weight 1 lb. (The pricing is based on the boots of speed.)

An alternative might be to strictly enforce the "blocks" of duration as granted by the spell (so 2 blocks of 5 consecutive rounds or 1 block of 10 consecutive rounds). What do you think about the item?

02-10-05, 11:59 AM It actually seems to cost a bit too much for only 10 rounds a day.. It doesn't seem overpowered at all. How about a stipulation that the item gets another advantage if the weapons already have the returning enchantment on them? Like doubling the range increments of the item? Precise Shot, or Improved Precise Shot would also make good additions.

02-10-05, 09:49 PM I like bracers or gauntlets that grant the throw anything feat, but I'm not too keen on the 10 rounds thing. It should be permanent.

Has anyone tried making Jarlaxles gloves?

03-01-05, 12:29 AM bracer of throwing daggers.

holds 4 returning daggers.

the bracer is 1000 because it makes drawing and throwing the daggers a free action and each dagger is roughly 2000 gold

so 9100 all together for one of jaralaxes bracers. if you want adimantine daggers for fun add the extra money to each daggers cost.

03-02-05, 08:06 PM I think they have a magic item that applies the throwing and returning magic enchancements on every weapon you weild, i am fairly sure they cost 10,000 :cool:
