| JiCi02-06-07, 02:43 PM | I found that a while ago: Braid Blade (Dungeon Mag, issue #120, p35) Light * 1d3 * 18-20 / x3 * Slashing * 10 gp * ½ lb * hardness 5 * 2 hp Blade attached at the end of a long hair braid Feint +2 As a Full Round Attack, you can make a bonus attack with the Braid Blade at –5 (or –2 if you have 5+ ranks of Tumble) (found that on this linked PDF file right here (http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD3.5Index-Equipment.pdf)) The whole concept is that you gain an extra attack with a knife-like blade attached to a hair braid. The problem is this: No limit has been written. So a PC can have as much blades as it wants if it has long hairs and gains as much extra attacks as it wishes. I keep saying it over the Character Optimization board, there's got to be a limit somewhere in a foreign book; you can't just have 100 blades in you hair and then have 100 extra attacks, all that a simple -5 penalty. Dude, a dervish or a martial adept just busted the rules without breaking them. Can anyone help me with this problem ? Thanks in advance, JiCi |

If you want to keep the hair braid as an additional attack (that is, in addition to fighting with two weapons), I'd strongly suggest capping it at one. Even that seems cheesey to me. Anything else would be pushing it. |

As a Full Round Attack, you can make a bonus attack with the Braid Blade at –5 (or –2 if you have 5+ ranks of Tumble) One attack, as a full round action. All you have left is free/swift actions, and a 5' step. You can't use either of those to make more attacks with your hairbraid of doom. |

| DarkRhystar02-06-07, 07:13 PM | So you found a poorly conceived and not well thoughtout item in Dungeon magazine (pardon my lack of shock)... what do you want us to do about it? Tell you that you can wear 100 of them? Make up new rules for the item that make sense? Sounds to me like you want to exploit this and are looking for loopholes in your logic (otherwise you'd have just disregarded it). Shame shame. |
| enygmatic_me02-06-07, 07:30 PM | This was a weapon usually worn in the queue, which is a single thick braid. So, if using historical references, only one can be worn at a time. I think the description in the link is poorly worded. If anyone with Dungeon #120 could post the proper wording on the weapons use that might be of help. As it stands it seems to mean the Braid Blade gives you one bonus attack at -5 (-2 if you have 5 ranks of tumble) whenever you make a full attack in a given round. |
