Dalthbar 09-09-06, 11:57 AM	I was thinking the sapling that Li Mu Bai used in Crouching Tiger - but this wasn't really used for damage, just a "teaching tool" so to speak. And the only reason he could use it to parry was because he's a crazy master swordsman, not because of the sapling at all. We clearly need more information - we're all just guessing here.

shatteredturtle 09-11-06, 09:12 PM	Seems like you are thaking about a Kendo stick. I would treat it like a long or short sword (depending on size) that only deals non-lethal damage.

Suin Bahhar 09-11-06, 10:21 PM	I think the OP meant a steel sword with tridentlike blades/pronges that branch out from the sides of the main blade. A bit like the swords japanese demons (oni) use. It could be an exotic weapon, or even a ceremonial regular great or longsword.

Flay Crimsonwind 09-17-06, 12:11 AM	A tree branch sword? Wasn't there one of those in a Castlevania game, where it was like enchanted wood? I'd treat it as a long/short sword with bludgeoning damage instead of slashing. So yeah, pretty much a club, balanced an' all......

I forget its name, but its in Complete Adventurer.. it gives a bonus to disarm and is an Exotic weapon (although I personally am against making anything that looks different Exotic, and WotC's excuse of "it's heavier/lighter/something that makes it difficult to wield" is utter BS and a cop-out if you ask me). Remember, folks, you can make your weapons look like anything so long as you don't change the game mechanics. I can have a "mace" that looks like an iron club or a serrated sword that functions like a longsword... just because you want a "unique" weapon doesn't mean it has to have unique stats..

fatal error 09-22-06, 03:55 PM	Based on what it's supposed to help with in battle, I'd take a longsword, give it +2 to disarm and lower damage to 1d6.

__DnD4Life__ 09-23-06, 02:51 AM	Ahhh...The barbed sword. Like a greatsword that has huge barbs along the length? I have been meaning to make the stats for one of those for a while....but no time. Maybe exotic two-handed, 2d6 damage, 20/x4 crit? Or 20/x3 with a +2 to disarm?
