08-28-06, 02:41 PM Does anyone know where i can find []if there are any[] stats for a broadsword? Itd be easier if someone could give them to me, but if its against copyright, just a point in the direction of which book they are in would be very helpful.

08-28-06, 03:28 PM If you REALLY want some different stats for a broadsword, you could compare the 2e broadsword to the 2e longsword and extrapolate the difference to 3.5. I just stick them under longsword myself, much like I stick sabers under scimitar and smallswords under rapier.

08-28-06, 03:37 PM The term "broadsword" is a functionally useless one, used in the Early Modern era when rapiers and such were the standard blade, to basically describe any straight sword whose blade was wider than a rapier's.

So really, take your pick from Longsword, Bastard Sword, or Greatsword, depending on how big your "broadsword" is. Because the term itself is as meaningful as "slashing" or "curved" when describing an actual type of sword.

08-28-06, 04:16 PM If you want a really broad broadsword, you could check the 3.0 broad-bladed shortsword in the Arms and Equipment Guide and apply a similar ability to a longsword.

But, if you're willing to split a hair here or there you could probably squeeze the broadsword back into the game. Here are some possiblities, depending on what you mean by 'broadsword,' that is:

* medium broadswords are heavy enough to have double the normal hps of a
one-handed bladed weapon.

* +2 to make (or defend against) Sunder attempts vs Rapiers and other period weapons,

Personally, I like the 2d4 20/x2 version, just because the 1E broadsword did 2-8/2-7...

08-28-06, 04:34 PM I like the 2D4 version too, but the small sized damage should probably be 1D6, otherwise it's equal to a small bastard sword. Either 1D6 or 2D3.
