| Azezel07-02-06, 10:44 AM | Can anyone remember how much damage a wand does when broken? I seem to remember charges/10 X Spell Level (cantrips count as half) d6? Reflex save Dc 10+spell level for half, and the person holding the wand gets no save. |
| Oliver D'Argent07-02-06, 11:10 AM | There is no official rule saying that wands cause damage if broken. If a wand is sundered or broken otherwise, the magic it contained simply escapes and the wand is useless - no such thing as a Retributive Strike wand. ;) |

| Azezel07-02-06, 01:14 PM | Thanks for the responces. I'm sure I've read rules for it somewhere - but I cannot think where or when. Oh, and thanks for resisting the temptations of inuendo... |
| utilitarian07-02-06, 01:37 PM | You may be thinking of the "Retributive Strike" feature that some staves such as the Staff of Power and Staff of the Magi have when INTENTIONALLY broken so as to trigger the strike. In which case the answer is "A lot" and 'You might end up in another dimension" or, in more official terms (SRD) A staff of power can be used for a retributive strike, requiring it to be broken by its wielder. (If this breaking of the staff is purposeful and declared by the wielder, it can be performed as a standard action that does not require the wielder to make a Strength check.) All charges currently in the staff are instantly released in a 30-foot radius. All within 2 squares of the broken staff take points of damage equal to 8 × the number of charges in the staff, those 3 or 4 squares away take 6 × the number of charges in damage, and those 5 or 6 squares distant take 4 × the number of charges in damage. All those affected can make DC 17 Reflex saves to reduce the damage by half. The character breaking the staff has a 50% chance of traveling to another plane of existence, but if he does not, the explosive release of spell energy destroys him. Only certain items, including the staff of the magi and the staff of power, are capable of being used for a retributive strike. |
| Azezel07-02-06, 05:45 PM | Mm - I'm familiar with the Staff of the Magi - I'm pretty sure this wasn't what I was thinking about - although after a three year break from playing it is a possibility... |

| utilitarian07-02-06, 08:10 PM | 1d2 as an improvised weapon. *clap* Very very witty. |
| RayOMan07-02-06, 10:05 PM | Azeze, have you ever played in a game with my DM? ;) Breaking magic items in his campaign, intentional or not, causes big ass explosions. There is no official rule that I know of that allows wands to have a retributive strike feature. |
