| Faerir05-19-05, 11:52 AM | I have found a slightly broken combo of feats, configuration and classes, when it comes to combat: Orc Ranger/Barbarian Two weapon fighting, Cleave, Power attack, Ambidexterity, improved two weapon fighting, barbarian rage Weapon: 2 greatswords -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ivoke power attack, barbarian rage max damage (not crit) = 46dmg/round (aprox.) max damage (crit.) = 92 (aprox.) * I don't have a PHB on me so the stats may be bigger. (with regular strength 16) |

You can't dual-wield greatswords... Large sized players can dual-weild greatswords. More info... will work on it... is still a template. I won't have a working model for a while. |
| Bluebrush05-19-05, 12:20 PM | You're thinking of 3.0, and an orc wasn't large, even back then. Heck, with Complete Adventurer's oversized two weapon fighting you can make a better job of it using two bastard swords. |
| Vahenir05-19-05, 12:40 PM | Yeah.. since when are Orcs large size? |
| tarkin05-19-05, 12:51 PM | Also, in general people do not combine Two Weapon Fighting and Power Attack. They are diametrically opposed styles. TWF sucks unless you have per attack damage boosters (Sneak Attack, Ranger Favored Enemey, lots of poison, lots of money to enchant your weapons) Therefore, Barbarians generally do not use TWF. Without those things, you are better off specializating in a single weapon and Power Attacking for -2. Your average Damage will increase. |
| Agent 3405-19-05, 01:17 PM | Still can't compare to a Monk/Paladin Saint with Ascetic Knight feat. Just try and compete with 250 average damage at level 15. >_> |
| Zherog05-19-05, 02:11 PM | I have found a slightly broken combo of feats, configuration and classes, when it comes to combat: Orc Ranger/Barbarian Two weapon fighting, Cleave, Power attack, Ambidexterity, improved two weapon fighting, barbarian rage Weapon: 2 greatswords (with regular strength 16) Alright - well, first, let's change the weapon from Greatswords to Bastardswords. Then, we'll talk 3.5 - so we can swap out ambidex for Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting. We're talking a character of around 7th level - Ranger 6/Barbarian 1. This gives us our TWF and I-TWF feats for free. We need three more feat slots, which can be done by a 7th level character (1st, 3rd, 6th). So we're good to go. Our character has a BAB of 7, and a strength mod of +3. Assuming both weapons are a +1 weapon isn't a stretch at that level (and, really, we could probably say one of them is a +2). We're going to Rage, so our Strength mod goes up to +5. So, here goes: No Power Attack: We get 4 attacks at 11/11/7/7. For any primary hand attack that hits, we're going to do 1d10 + 6. For any off-hand attack that hits, we're going to be doing 1d10 + 3. Now let's Power Attack for 3: We still get 4 attacks, this time at 8/8/4/4. We'll probably hit a little less often, but what's our damage look like? Primary Hand: 1d10+9; off-hand 1d10+6 Let's try Power Attacking for the full 7: Four attacks, at 4/4/-1/-1. Yippie yay. Damage: Primary hand: 1d10+13 Off-hand: 1d10+10 *** :uh-huh: I have to ask - so what? Take away the duel wielding and give him a 2-handed weapon instead. Now, with no power attack, we attack at +13/+8, and every attack that hits does 2d6+8. Power Attack for 3 points and we get two attacks at +10/+5 and damage of 2d6+14. Power Attack for all 7 points and we get two attacks at +6/+1. Damage each hit will be 2d6+22. note my numbers could be slightly off, but the gist remains the same |
