Hello all,
I had a question.
First off, how would it be possible to recieve a defense bonus from using multiple bucklers? So if I were to wear one on each arm, how could I get a +2 shield bonus to AC?

[tongue-in-cheek]You need to take the "Two-Shield Defending" feat, to reduce the penalties of defending with two shields.[/tongue-in-cheek]

Bonuses of the same type (with the exception of dodge bonuses) do not stack, so, while you could wear a shield of any type on both arms, you will only get best available shield bonus applied to your armour class, and each will apply thier full armour check penalty AND arcane spell failure penalty(if they should apply to your character).

Many DM's, however, would let the magical enhancements(if any) of both shields apply if you choose to wear them...

No, you could have 999 around you, and would still only have 999 +2 shield bonuses that don't stack.

I don't know any that would, and either I don't understand or I don't believe allowing them to stack this way is all that common in "many dm" minds.

well, sort of. The actual shield bonuses to AC wouldn't stack, however you would be able to get bonuses from other magical enhancements to them(such as Acid Resitance)

Or just buy those on the one buckler as those ehancements dont cost more for having more on it?

It's similar to firing a +1 flaming arrow from a +1 frost longbow. The +1's will not stack, but the flaming and frost will each apply.

You could have a +1 buckler of arrow deflection and a +1 buckler of light fortification and the shield bonuses would not stack (including the enhancement bonuses to each), but you would get the benefit of both the arrow deflection and the light fortification.

yes, they do. a +1 acid resistance cold resistance buckler costs as a +3 buckler. the +1 equivelent prices boost the price significantly as they stack, unlike the ones that givee a flat gold price boost.

Not anymore. Check your DMG again... energy resistance effects are now flat GP costs, not enhancement bonus costs.

Ah my mistake, bad example. Spell Resistance or something similar that does have a straight equivelant is what I had intended, although it is true that these things still stack on different bucklers
