I've searched through the "buckler" threads and haven't yet seen this talked about.

I have a fighter with Imp Buckler Defense wielding two weapons. He finds a Buckler+1 that grants Energy Resist = Fire 10. A few levels later he finds a Buckler+1 that grants Energy Resist = Cold 10. Can he wear a buckler on each arm, get -only- a AC+2 (shield) bonus, take a Hit-1 on each arm for wearing bucklers, AND get both Energy Resists?

whatchall think?

i think hell get the shield ac bonus from one buckler but both energy resist effects.
i dont know what buckler maluses on attack etc. are exactly since i never used them, but they will apply two times (or better said once for each arm) of course.

While extremely cheesey, it appears that what you're doing is possible. The only restriction I can think of is that you don't get the AC bonus from both, which you've already stated you're not getting.

if you are using them both as an weapon , then you need the two weapon figting feat to get-2/-2 instead of -4/-4 on attack rolls:)
I think that you would get both ac bonuses if you take the feat:)

could he not just sell the new buckler and use the proceeds to get cold resistance added to the original buckler?

No you do not because they are both shield bonuses and those do not stack.

Yes, he's got all the requisite two-weapon feats and light weapons and all that. The question is just solely the effects of two bucklers.

This is a low-magic campaign, so that precludes selling and buying and upgrading magic eq. Else your completely correct, it would be more effective to put everything onto one buckler.

I would say that on a round by round basis, the AC bonuses would stack, but i would assign an additional -1 to all attacks made be your character until your next round, to demonstrate the effort redirected from your focus on offensive to defensive. After all, you can have a buckler on the arm you swing your sword with, but it is hell trying to block with the buckler while attempting to strike the enemy. I think that the reason this isn't really covered anywhere else that I've noticed either, is that it is really a specialized case. By this i mean, who would wade into combat with a heavy steel shield strapped to each arm? What is he going to attack with, a spiked boot? Two shields is possible, but not generally probable, where as wearing two sets of armor at once is just rediculous. I give both since the rules state that neither can stack bonuses by themselves. But i think the reason for this is simply that it is more effort than really ought to be taken on this matter.

I'd say, let one always be active for AC (block with that while you swing with the other arm) but not let the AC stack unless you have improved buckler defense. And let hte magic stack.

Yes

The Shield Bonus won't stack so Buckler (1 AC) and the +1 enchantment bonus for a total of +2 Shield AC.

You would lose the AC (unless Improved Buckler Defense) when the arm with that buckler attacks.

You get the -1 to hit on both arms.

You get both Energy Resistance bonuses.

Actually, wielding two spiked shields as weapons can be quite effective when you count in the special Bashing property (nothing quite like the fact that armor bonuses cost so much less). You could easily wield two 2d6 weapons that way and with the feats in the PHB II you'd even be effective (and fairly well armored to boot).

As everyone's stated, the shield bonuses won't stack (or any other like bonus between the shields), and you take all the penalties incurred...but yeah.

I, however, would liken it to being kind of like wearing your underwear on the outside (yes, even if it's "magic" underwear). Just know that when your character walks into a room where everyone is laughing and they all suddenly get quiet, it's because they were talking about him.

I would consider a character to have 1 shield slot.

So if using more than one, you only get the benefits of the shield you're using for AC bonus, which you can change on a round by round basis.

(I would not allow both benefits Energy Resits and as already stated you get no AC bonus from another shield and all the penalties.)

Two Shield bonuses to AC don't stack, but they can still both be present, so I see no mechanical issue with the character wearing two bucklers - he might look a little silly, and he takes a -1 whichever hand he uses, but both shields could protect him at the same time, thier AC bonuses don't stack (but they are still both there), but any other properties would still be in force.
