What are the rules for using a buckler with a bow or Two handed weapon? Is it only before you attack? If so is there a feat that lets you use on in melee at all times.

Thanks for you input!

Once you attack, you can't use the buckler for defense until your choose not to attack. And you get a -1 penalty to hit for the Two Handed weapons. In addition, if you are not getting the AC,you don't get any other magical property of the Buckler (say Heavy fortification), any more than you would if it was in your back pacl or strapped to your back. Armor is use activated so ifyou are not using it, it is not activated.

You want the feat Improved Buckler Defense feat. It grants the AC all the time (and any magical abilities), and negates the penalty to hit.

Dear Tarkin:

IICR, IBD always grants AC but does NOT remove penalty to hit. I will check my books when I get home.
