Hey all I was wondering if someone can point me to some sage advise or something that clears this up.

There is nothiing in the Discription of bucklers that says you can use a buckler with two-handed weapons. Everything is written specifically to cover buckler's and two weapon fighting not two-handed weapons. But there is also a lot of published material using bucklers as if weilding a two-handed weapon applied like two-weapon fighting.

Anyone got anything specific or is it just a common misconception that buclkler's apply to two-handed weapons.

*EDIT* I take that back... A buddy just corrected me. You can do it

Glad you got it cleared up. For reference or future visitors, though:

From SRD (emphasis mine):
Buckler

This small metal shield is worn strapped to your forearm. You can use a bow or crossbow without penalty while carrying it. You can also use your shield arm to wield a weapon (whether you are using an off-hand weapon or using your off hand to help wield a two-handed weapon), but you take a -1 penalty on attack rolls while doing so. This penalty stacks with those that may apply for fighting with your off hand and for fighting with two weapons. In any case, if you use a weapon in your off hand, you don’t get the buckler’s AC bonus for the rest of the round.

So yes, you can use a two-handed weapon with a buckler, just suffer an attack penalty while doing so, and don't get the AC bonus either.

How ever, the Feat Agile SHield Fighter.. or something like that, allows you to make an attack with your off hand weapon, and retain your shield bonus to AC. could make for some good Two-hander builds.
