| Khurgan11-09-06, 10:10 AM | Hello all, I was just wondering - what is everybody's current favourite enhancement spell/spell-like effect/domain power that you have/like to be cast on you, etc. (i.e. 'Buff') and what is every body's favourite shiny, magical item or other geegaw (Bling) at the moment in your current campaign for your current character? It'd rock, if you answer, if you list: Character Name: Setting: Campaign Title (if any): Fave Buff: Fave Bling: You could also stick in why (as it could give out some good ideas for DMs and players alike)... I'll start (really boring) Character Name:Khurgan McArik Setting:Forgotten Realms Campaign Title (if any):Age of Worms Fave Buff thus far: "Yon Half-Elf Cleric of Lathander has some god-given power that (for three rounds) enhances the accuracy and hitting power of me waraxe and confounds the enemy's attempts at tearing me a new one..." (I don't know what it's called 'Renewal' or something but it's good and enhances attack/damage rolls and saving throws) Fave Bling thus far: Chainmail +1 (it's my only bling - I'm only level 3!) Why: spolier warning: Loved the buff (and bling) as the buff was precisely what was needed at the right time when we fought the necromancer "Filge" in his laboratory. Our Monk was down and bleeding out - our Rogue virtually useless with his puncture weapons against what we had to fight, and getting a slapping - Wolff, our barbarian, was getting totally tonked - only I on the front line with chainmail +1 was on decent hit points (they kept missing me by one point!) but we.just.couldn't.hit.them.back.enough. Then our cleric (second rank) who'd run out of healing spells cast her domain power spell thing - whammo! Khurgan and Wolff have been protected a bit and with attack and damage enhancements have downed Filge's monstrosities and are charging the syringe wielding, goatee beardy wierdy by the end of its effects (3 rounds). A round later Filge is gutted - literally. Without that domain ability Wolff would have gone to the hunting grounds in the sky (he ended the fight on 3hp), the Lendo the Monk would also have bled out and Khurgan would've been holding the line whilst the Quenya the Cleric and Fazim the Rogue fled back to Daggerford for "reinforcements" (read: Three newly created group members)...It really was that close. One of the best fights we've had in a loooong time. A real close call saved by perfect buffing at the right moment. |
| SeattleLightning11-09-06, 10:22 AM | Sounds like fun. Glad to hear you're enjoying the game. Don't let what anyone else says on here get you down! Here's mine... Character Name:Seskiyel, son of Thardamus Setting: Original Campaign Campaign Title (if any):N/A Fave Buff thus far: Mass Bear's Endurance Fave Bling thus far: Intelligent Bastard Sword +2 Why: The buff is really boring, but the sword, our new acquisition last night, is pretty cool. The sword is named BOF, don't ask. But it is a neutral good vicious bastard sword +2. Even better, one of its powers is cure moderate wounds 3 times per day. So the sword is overzealous in wanting to destroy those who commit cruel or evil acts upon the innocent or those unable to protect themselves. Everytime the sword hits, it inflicts damage on the weilder so that it can inflict even more damage on the target. What's best, after the fight, the sword can heal the damage it inflicted on its user! The best part is, it was completely randomly rolled! Everyone in our party either didn't want a bastard sword or couldn't use it. My character, Seskiyel, is a sorcerer. He had an ordinary dagger to use when all else fails. On a whim he discarded the dagger in exchange for the slightly tarnished bastard sword only to find that it was intelligent and it matched his aligment! (the sword can speak). |
| SephDragoon11-09-06, 10:45 AM | Character Name: Tyr Setting: Original Campaign Campaign Title (if any): Ardenian Panic (aptly named the way my DM plays it >_<) Fave Buff: Divine Favor (+3 to attack and damage at my level is great, plus it stacks with my other buffs) Fave Bling: Spell Storing Katana (Gotta love storing a shocking grasp in here. Better yet, other useful spells. Plus, it is bound to me, and intelligent. Eventually I'll be able to talk to it, but not for a few levels) |
| Kimokeo11-09-06, 11:55 AM | Mendel the Mauler, dwarven warrior Adventurer in the world of Greyhawk Fave Buff: Tongues and Comprehend Languages Fave Bling: Thundering 4x4 Mendel is a carpenter by trade. Likes to carry around a 4x4. He believes it is better to intimidate your opponent in a language they understand. It's equally enjoyable to understand their language when they cry in pain. Kooky Karln The unarmed fool Fave Buff: True Strike & Enlarge Person Fave Bling: Any Strength enhancement item. Karln is a miser/diviner who refused to buy weapons and armor. He keeps a H3 to carry his money. In combat, he disarms opponents, beats them up with their own weapons, and then sells the weapon for money. From their dead bodies, he'll strip armor and such for money. He loves money above all else, except perhaps AC and 'to hit' improvements. His ability to disarm 5 people per round makes him a fearful foe. His opponents' weapons often just lie about his feet. His greatest desire is to determine how to disarm the unarmed and he continues his studies in his school to find the answer. Frenk the Fanatic High Priest of Pain Fave Buff: any Fave Bling: Circlet of Persuasion & Cloak of Charisma & Dagger of Spell Storing. Frenk believes he has been gifted with immortality. His Dagger of Spell Storing is always loaded with HEAL that he personally plants in it. In arguments with unbelievers, he will thrust his mighty blade into his gut, making two fine cuts, only to be fully healed. He demands that the unbeliever repent and change their ways by becoming his follower. He even claims the dagger can tell who is worthy or not by a simple thrust and examination. So far, only Frenk is worthy. |
| Bowmore11-09-06, 02:30 PM | Name: Taval Viggo, human Warblade / Exotic Weapon Master (bastard sword) Favourite Buff: Fox's Cunning, because he likes his class features that rely on Intelligence Favourite Bling: His +2 Holy bastard sword that he calls the Viggo Family Sword, even though he crafted it (as a masterwork weapon) and it was enchanted by a party member (he's aiming high) Joachim Teth, half-elf Spellthief / Lurk Favourite Buff: Touchsight and Ubiquitous Vision (not at the same time) Favourite Bling: His +1 Hand Crossbow of Collision (heh, that's 1d4+6 damage) |
| Khurgan11-09-06, 03:01 PM | Frenk the Fanatic High Priest of Pain Fave Buff: any Fave Bling: Circlet of Persuasion & Cloak of Charisma & Dagger of Spell Storing. :D Brilliant! (but not sure I believe these were genuine characters....). Still, I'm having fun reading these! |
| LadyQuenya11-09-06, 04:37 PM | Character Name: Lady Quenya Dawnbringer Setting: Forgotten Realms Campaign Title: Age of Worms Fave Buff: The divine power given to me by the morning lord Lathander Fave Bling: My holy wooden symbol I see my companion, Khurgan, has eluded you all to our close shave with death! It would seem the true divine power of the morning lord has once again triumphed, was I worried? Well not as worried as the two dwarves on the front line, but then what do you expect when they follow a dwarven god! However I must not judge others as it is not my place or calling. As we continue our quest along the treacheous road of life, in Faerun, we will keep you updated on our findings and adventures. It seems the god Kyuss has plans a foot that we need to deal with, although I still have reservations of my party members. The only one I truly trust is Khurgan, but in Lathanders calling I must follow...... |
| Black_Puffin11-09-06, 07:37 PM | Name: Rinju Darkwood Occupation: Exiled Drow Bard (lv.17) Campaign: Original Setting Fave Buff: Sirene's Grace Fave Bling:Mwk Guitar, Smuggler's boots, Coat of Coolness, Glove's of the Master's Touch, Inevitable Sunglasses. The campaign is half-modern half-fantasy. The Party has a severe lack of magic items and Rinju is the mage and has a problem with modern weaponry, hence the gloves. The Coat of Coolness give him +2 on bluff, diplomacy, and intimidate and he looks really cool when he does stunts, which he does often. He found this in an antiques shop in Chinatown. The Inevitable Sunglasses were taken from a fallen Kolyarut that attacked him, incidently they wear suits, appeared in a triad, weilded lawful Desert Eagles and swords, and drove a planeshifting towncar...a very painful battle...the car got totalled by a cacophonic burst... He has the intention to enhance the coat with Sirine's Grace, and create the rest of the Regalia of Coolness; the Sunglasses of (Inevitable) Coolness and the (smuggler's) Boots of Coolness. FYI: Rinju recently learned Swift Fly and is looking for Wings of Flying. |
| Andrew_98011-10-06, 02:29 PM | Name:Jaden (formerly human before deal with goddess) Occupation: Cleric of dealth Campaign: Dave Arneson's Blackmoor mmrpg Fave Buff: Fly, metalic blade of vengeance Fave Bling:Merciful Elven Longblade Fly is fun, especially against blinded caters and archers (favorite offensive spell) and natural flyers that must move past me and get AOOs. The Blades spell is campaign specific and gives +2d6 damage. that means my cleric that tries to be a front-liner does 1d8+3d6+3. not bad for LVL 6. |
| Veomyr11-10-06, 03:40 PM | Frenk the Fanatic High Priest of Pain Fave Buff: any Fave Bling: Circlet of Persuasion & Cloak of Charisma & Dagger of Spell Storing. While I love the idea, spell-storing can only store a spell up to 3rd level. |
| JellyPooga11-10-06, 08:21 PM | Jin Half-Ogre Monk/Outcast Champion/Dragon Devotee Generic D&D Buff:Fist of Stone Bling: Scarf of Warmth Jin was raised in a monestary, where he was left on the doorstep as a babe with only a curiously warm scarf for protection against the elements. He has kept the scarf his entire life and cannot be parted from it. After he left the monestary to see the world, he discovered that he was possessed of draconic blood. He found that, amongst other things, by drawing on the power latent in his veins, he could temporarily absorb the strength from a stone, augmenting his already impressive stature. Few can withstand even a single blow from his mighty fists when he is enraged and it's only a small mercy for those that anger him that he's a pacifist... |
| Necropolitan11-10-06, 09:34 PM | Mourge Alignment: Chaotic Evil Race:Ghul/Hooded Pupi/Spellstiched/Evolved Undead; Human Base Creature. Class:Barbarian/Frenzied Berserker Occupation: Ambulitory Slaughterhouse. Setting: Hombrew Steampunk D&D Campaign Title: Darkwerks. Favorate Buff: Death Knell. He has it as his Spell-stiched SLA along with Flesning and Inflict Moderate Wounds. He took the Quicken Spell-Liek Ability and uses it before and after a Frenzy with Moment of Perfect Thought to quickly gain back life and gain an edge over the rest of his opponents, before Freznying again. Favorate Bling: It's a tie between his +2 Greater Wounding Lifedrinker Longaxe which he named Hemmorage; and His Gauntlet of Utterdeath. Both are vastly entertaining. Mourge is the party's TPK-er, they tend to set him loose and point at bad guys and say 'Mourge, Kill' then go have tea whil ehe slaughters everything with 10' reach and massive Power-Attack and Great Cleave abuse. I love him. So damn much! |
