05-07-07, 06:33 AM Say I have a group of medium-sized characters walking in single file and I want a large-sized creature to attack them from the side. (Perhaps on a bridge or something, the aim being to knock them off).
Given that the large creature takes up 10ft. of space, is it possible to only bull rush one of the opponents and not touch the other? What if it wanted to push just one of them more than 5ft, would it have to push both at once, is that possible?

05-07-07, 10:47 AM Don't forget that creatures can squeeze. So a large creature can squeeze through 5 ft.

05-07-07, 11:33 AM I agree in principle, but would require more. The standard rules for squeezeing provide a penalty to attack roles, but you don't use an attack roll in a Bull Rush. I would therefore rule that you get the same penalty to your Strength check as you would normally get to your attack roll.

This is for squeezing into a space 1/2 as wide as you (can't attack if doing more than that, and have to make an Escape Artist check)

Each move into or through a narrow space counts as if it were 2 squares, and while squeezed in a narrow space you take a -4 penalty on attack rolls and a -4 penalty to AC.

A creature can squeeze past an opponent while moving but it can’t end its movement in an occupied square.
