If a character bull rushes an enemy into a wall, or some other solid object, what is the result? I said they fall prone. One player suggested the attackers body becomes an improvised weapon, dealing damage. Another player suggested that along with the damage from the charger, the wall takes damage from the defender, possibly collapsing it. To which I say, this isn't anime. Really not that important, but it's been bugging me for awhile. |

Some think it's too much for the Bull Rush to do, like adding a free trip. For the most part Bull Rush is supposed to be used to push your opponent into some kind of battlefield hazard or out of a given position (threatening a disabled ally for instance). |

Only the attacker can fall prone -- and then only if he makes his approach to the defender through an occupied square. Sometimes a character ends its movement while moving through a space where it’s not allowed to stop. When that happens, put your miniature in the last legal position you occupied, or the closest legal position, if there’s a legal position that’s closer. After a successful bull rush, the last legal square the defender occupied is already occupied by the attacker, so the defender gets bumped to the closest legal position. For example, if a human bull rushes an orc who's up against a wall, the human moves into the orc's square. Let's assume the human wins the opposed Strength check and pushes the orc back 5 ft. That's not a legal square, so the orc must go to the square occupied by the human (which is also not a legal square) or to the closest legal position. So he gets bumped to the left or the right, taking no damage from bumping into the wall. In another example, if a hobgoblin bull rushes an elf who is at the dead end of a 5 ft. wide corridor, something interesting happens. If the hobgoblin wins the opposed Strength check, the hobgoblin is now at the dead end square, and the elf gets pushed into the wall. This isn't a legal square, nor is the hobgoblin's square, so the elf gets bumped to the other side of the hobgoblin! Great fun. Like an alaman right in square dancing.
