I'm writing up a campaign and I know this rule got removed from 3rd Ed, but I'm trying to find a way to use it anyways. Specifically for this one scene.

A friend of mine, who is helping me write up this campaign, has an NPC char in the game and me telling him what's been going on and all he wants to do one thing... he wants to try and break the Bard's jaw to at least make him shut up for a few days. Called shot to jaw... how do you do that in the rules... heh.

If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it, if not then I can just modify the 2nd Ed rule a bit and give him the temporary flaw of Mute.

Breaking the jaw is abusive.

Wounding it is reasonable.

In a strict or Loose game, this is what I would expect (Power Game, no feat required)

Feat: Jawbreaker.
Pre-req: Dex 13+

Benefit: You may target a creature's jaw attack. If you hit, the target must make a Fort Save, DC = 10 + (damage done)/2. Even if they make the save they get penalties for one round. If the fail the save, they get penalties for 10 minutes. The penalties can be removed early if they get any healing spell that does more healing than the damage that caused the penalties:

Penalties:

-4 to hit with any Bite attack
They must make a Spellcraft check, DC 18 to cast any spell with a verbal component. Failure means the spell is lost for no effect.
They must make a concentration check, DC 14 to speak and be understood.
