| DracoPhoenix11-21-06, 09:25 AM | Hi, I'm thinking on getting a bag of caltrops (probably the bag of unending caltrops if I can ever find it again) and adding the wounding weapon enchantment to it. I'm pretty sure I've messed up on the costings but my current logic is: MW Caltrops : 301gp +1 Enchantment : 2000 Wounding (+2 enchantment) : +16000. Now, Im not 100% if this should be done under weapons or wonderous items, if I need the +1 enchantment or if I wanted to make them return to their bag on a command word, if the +1 enchantment for teleporting would apply. So, the biggies are: 1) is 18301gp for a bag of wounding caltrops about right? and 2) would there be any extra cost in having them return to their bag on a command word (to save on clean up etc)? And if so, how much? If the caltrops use wonderous items, then the +1 base enchantment probably isnt needed, dropping the price to 8301gp. (unless the teleporting ability is needed) Or am I just making this way to difficult for myself? Any help would be gratefully received. |

If you do enhance them "as weapons" you may find: 1) MW Caltrops may be fine at 301 gp. 2) If you consider it a weapon, 2,000 gp multiplier. 3) If you don't consider it a weapon, 4,000 gp multiplier (my vote.) 4) Either way, price it as a +3 enhancement (+1 and +2 Wounding) 5) 18,000 gp as weapon (use Craft Arms) or 36,000 gp as Wondrous (use Craft Wondrous) 6) Either way, dropping the "base" +1 isn't fair (so +3 = +1+2Wounding) 7) Adding returning (or teleporting) makes it a +4 (4x4x4,000 = 64,000 gp) |

| draconic_swine11-21-06, 10:59 AM | You'd definitely need to add teleporting/returning to make them return to their bag, and Risner has the correct prices, but I disagree that it should be a wondrous item. Caltrops deal damage and use an attack roll, very much like a weapon. I say enhance them like weapons. There was a thread a while back asking a similar question, and the consesus there was to treat them as weapons. |

Glad to see I wasn't completely off on my pricing. As for the above. What have I done! This weapon of subtle destruction was only suppose to be used by the good guys! :) Just give them an oppertunity to clean them up and keep em afterwards - should make up for any initial inconvenience. |
