Richmud 10-15-06, 07:08 PM	Warlocks can't supply spells for item creation until 12 as long as that is being handled by scrolls it should allow for item creation
JadeSpider9643 10-16-06, 01:52 AM	there ARE a very few items that have no spell preqresites, merely that you have the appropiate item creation feat and possibly some other odd thing. Like the ring of Jumping.....all you need is craft ring and 5 ranks in jump. And all armor weapons basic enchancement bonus requires only a caster level 3 times the bonus. But you can't get that at level 3 anyway.
Merestil Haye 10-16-06, 05:46 AM	The main problem with a 3rd level Warlock making items this way is activating the items used to provide the spell prerequisites. The character cannot yet take 10 on his check, so he's at the mercy of the dice. A single bad roll could waste an item and mean more are needed, so you'd have to overbudget on the supplies. At 4th level you get the ability to take 10 on the UMD roll, ad can (at that point) reliably deceive a wand; thus making it a better, but still relatively expensive, proposition.

So since you are required to have non Warlock levels to get Craft Wondrous, why don't you use that class (Wizard? Druid?) to make the item? If you are a straight Warlock (or multiclassed with other non caster classes like Fighter), you can not take Craft Wondrous item until 12th level.

Warlocks have a caster level equal to their class level. Therefor at level 3 they have CL3 and meet the requirements for craft wonderous item, they simply have a bit of trouble using the feat until 12th level lets them mimic spells

Mindwin 10-17-06, 01:06 PM	They can get someone else to cast the spells cooperatively when making the item. It is in the item crafting "rules of the game" article in the main website. Several characters can cooperate to craft a magic item, but only one of them must burden all the XP cost alone.
Jeffersonian000 10-19-06, 10:45 PM	A crafter does not have to be able to cast a spell in oder to craft an item that requires a spell. All that is required is that the spell (if needed) is cast during the creation of the item, be it from the crafter, an assistant, or a scroll. Also, there is no reason why invocations cannot be used in place of specific spells, if the spell is mimiced by the invocation. While a 3rd level Warlock is very restricted as to what they can make, a 6th level Warlock with the right feats can craft magical arms and armor, as well as a lesser chausible of fell power. SJ
