| equilibrium1711-07-06, 01:30 PM | No. At the least, shortspears cannot be set against a charge. Spears and longspears can. I don't remember off of the top of my head for all of the various other variants. I think the idea is that the shortspear is meant to represent short (5' or so), melee/throwing spears, not much larger than a javelin. So it's not really long enough to provide a substantial advantage against a charge. |
| draconic_swine11-07-06, 01:31 PM | Strictly speaking, unless a spear specifies that it can be set aginst a charge, it can't. Personally, I rule any two-handed spear can be set against a charge (this precludes the shortspear, the one core spear that doesn't allow setting). I'd say the greatspear not mentioning it was a simple oversight. |
