Nowhere in the description does it say that it's made of mithril, but it does display some qualities thereof such as only weighing 20 lbs and having a -2 armor check penalty, but the arcane spell failure adn max dex bonus doesn't match? It just says silver or gold is what it is? So I'm guessing by the rules just add 4000 gold pieces and you hace a suit of chainmail with a max dex of +10, 5% arcane spell failure and no armor check penalty! If that's so then I've definately gotta get me some of that!
Rulebook 01-14-05, 12:09 AM	im sure it already is or made of something else then mithril (but along the same lines) given that the stats are like mithral x2 on the stuff. otherwise it has the same weight as a suit of mithral chainmail, and a lot of properties of it (if better)
StevenO 01-15-05, 12:29 AM	This topic has been brought up very recently and if you had done a search you would have found this topic. While it is not directly stated I for one think that mithral is used in its construction. Reading the first paragraph in the Specific Armors section also states that all those armors are "as is" and not open to variation. While your DM may allow Mithral Celestrial Armor it I wouldn't recommend it. (Alllowing it that is, such an armor would be too good for certain people like arcane spellcasters.)

Nope, it's gold or silver in color, that's all. Whatever it's made of, it's /better/ than mithral. 'Mithral Celestial Mail' would presumably be mithral chain +3 enchanted to let the wearer fly - not as good as the real thing.

The first sentence in the specific armor section is, "The following specific suits of armor usually are preconstructed with exactly the qualities described here." But I still wouldn't allow that armor to be made of any other metal because it clearly is already made of some superior material since it is Chainmail with a max Dex bonus of +8, 5 higher than normal.
Orion_II 01-28-05, 02:54 PM	Intruiging thoughts; I presumed the enhanced mobility was a direct result of the magical enhancements of the armour itself and not of the materials involved. If you don't like the idea of mages wearing this armour, simply apply full arcane spell failure and the like, ruling that even with the enhancements, you still don't know how to use it properly
