Can I, wielding a two-handed weapon, hold said weapon with one hand and then draw a javelin while moving, throw the javelin and go back to holding the two-handed weapon with both hands?

1. You are allowed to hold, but not wield a two handed weapon in one hand.

2. Switching grips is a free action.

3. Drawing a weapon is allowed as a free action while moving, assuming you have an BAB of +1 or greater

I don't see why not.

Move action --> Draw Javelin
Standard action --> Throw Javelin

Since the two-handed sword is already in your hand, you just re-ready it for action (which should not be a move action I don't think).

But if it is, then you may need to Quick Draw the Javelin.

06-01-07, 02:06 AM if you have the javalin in a easily accessed location (stuck softely into the ground next to you ready to grab and throw?) then sure. If it's lashed to your bedroll and sack like a hobo-stick..then no. If it's just "stored" (vague definition i know) then you have to "draw it" under the rules for retriving a stored item...aka a move action that provokes AoO. and that does NOT fall under a free weapon draw during a move action. So in that case you would not be able to do you're whole routine of "move, draw javalin, throw javalin"

As to the grip-shifting. yes it's a free action, and yes you can make any number of free actions during your turn....."However the DM puts reasonable limits on what you can really do for free" This is without question one of those grey areas. Personally, if I was the DM I would allow the double-grip shift with a small penalty. -2 circumstance penalty to your AoO attacks during the following round sounds about right. because strictly speaking that's 3 grip adjustments, move the 2handed to 1 hand, gripping the javalin and re-gripping the 2-handed. it's not that you'r doing anything that's not allowed in the rules, you're just doing too much at once imho.

1. Release one hand from the two handed weapon: Free action that you can do, you are now holding the weapon in one hand.

2. Draw a javelin a part of a move action: As long as you have a +1 BAB and the javelin is accessible, a quiver of ehlonna would be good, then yes you can do this.

3. Throw the javelin: This is the standard action for the round.

4. Regrip the two handed weapon: This I don't think is possible in this round. According to the oft maligned FAQ, switching something from one hand to another is a move action, and for all intents and purposes that is what you are doing, just without letting go with the first hand, so from my interpretation of the rules you can't do the last part of your plan.
