I just stumbled over this. Assuming you make a monk's belt that uses the head slot (headband for instance), which would be a perfectly reasonable slot for such an item. Would the item's effect stack with a monk's belt ?

In the item description it only says "the character is treated as 5 levels higher[...]", there's no bonus type given. And since a monk's tattoo (MoF) is assumed to stack with a monk's belt i can't see a reason why it shouldn't stack with a belt.

I admit this would open a kind of cheesy can of worms for certain monk builds but per the rule it should work i think.

This also points me to the odd pricing of a monk's tattoo. 80,000 gp ?! If i make a slotless monk's belt (which doubles the price) it would cost me 26,000 gp...

No they would not stack.

It does not add 5 levels to their effect Monk level.

Instead both the belt and the headband would treat the monk as if he were 5 levels higher.

If you were a 6th level belt, both items would treat you as an 11th level monk.

They would not stack and suddenly give you abilities as a 16th level monk.
