| Comic Logic04-08-05, 11:05 AM | I have a flying speed and I need to know if I can use "run" as listed in the 3.5 phb to moce for a full round at x4 base speed. |
| Rulebook04-08-05, 12:02 PM | open your DMG to the flight section and you'll see, no. |
| Da Dinictus04-08-05, 03:18 PM | open your DMG to the flight section and you'll see, no.Downward flight, however, doubles your movement. So you could build some altitude, first, then make a prolonged dive over as little height as possible. Sure, it's no run, but it's double your movement. |
| lutz_the_mage04-09-05, 12:22 PM | I don't have find in the DMG but I foound in the monster manual that you can run while flying( p.312) *a creature can use the run action while flying, provided it flies in a straight line*. Can you give me the page where it's write in the DMG? |
| Da Dinictus04-09-05, 01:56 PM | DMG 3.5, page 20, table 2-1. |
| Lazzmaniandevil04-09-05, 02:57 PM | All I can see on that page is "Use the movement rules to apply to any sort of movement". I think you can "run" if you have a fly speed, just as you can use run to swim faster if you have a swim speed. However, you can't use run to fly faster if your flying capacity comes from magical or spell-like abilities. That's how I interpret the rules anyway... |
| Egres04-09-05, 06:33 PM | From the Rules of the Game article: Run A creature using natural flying speed can use the run action. As with any other run action, the creature must move in a straight line. A flyer using the run action cannot gain more than 5 feet of altitude, but it can lose any amount of altitude, and it gains the normal bonus movement for the altitude lost (5 feet per 5 feet descended, a maximum of twice its normal flying speed.) For example, a harpy could use the run action to fly 320 feet in a straight line. While doing so, it could not gain more than 5 feet of altitude. |
