The Hexblade alternative feature gives up a Familiar for a Dark Companion. People can dispel it of course, so it's wise to try to protect it somehow. Can you make it invisible?

IIRC - The dark companion isn't really there. Its a magical effect. It is neither a creature or object. It comes back next day I think if it is dispelled. Be happy that its getting dispelled, there are much better third level spells to cast, and better targets to cast them on.

It would depend if the description says it can be attacked directly. Does it have an AC or HP?

Which book is the Dark Companion from?

It is from PHB2. The text says it is immune to any damage or other effects that might harm creatures.

It's an illusion, illusions aren't valid targets for Invisibility.
