So, if someone tries to Bull Rush or Disarm my 40 AC monk with a 20 dodge bonus who is behind improved cover and using the Full Defense option, it's the same chance as if he was just standing there in front of them? Bull Rush particularly seems annoying since it's strength only, so dex-based characters have almost no way to avoid someone bull rushing them, when in theory it would seem simple enough to step out of the way like they can with an Overrun. Am I reading the rules correctly? |

| masterofmayhem09-24-05, 04:56 PM | Am I reading the rules correctly? Yes, unfortunately. Especially since you are using the total defense action. I think that means you don't get Attacks of Opportunity at all. But, since you are not taking a penalty to your attack roll (technically  ), you get to resist the attempt at your full bonus. Yes, I know that makes no sense. Especially since the penalty applies if you fight defensively. Those rules, all taken together, are very poorly written. They work well singly, buy when but together in that big melting pot your just described, they suck. Horribly. Especially anything mixing with fighting defensively or anything similar to that. |
