| Lalkin10-24-05, 03:39 PM | I've looked through the item creation rules and don't see this addressed. It clearly states you can't have a Longsword +6 (barring epic). However I don't see it ruled anywhere about having a Shocking, Holy, Anarchic, Extraplanar Bane Longsword +1 of Speed. Is such a weapon legal? And if anyone could provide the rules regarding this specificly I'd love a page number. |
| Thorak10-24-05, 03:54 PM | Yep. The actual enhancement must be at least +1, and no more than +5 pre-epic, but the weapon itself can be +10. The other +9 can be anything from up to +4 enhancement more, to the +9 of other abilities you mentioned. |
| Mysticaloctopus10-24-05, 04:02 PM | Hmm? i didn't think it had to have an enchantment bonus, just be masterwork. six Throwing returning ranged keen vorpal scimitars on a marilith dervish with improved crit and focus in scimitar, anyone? that'd be six 14-20 crit vorpals to anyone within 100 feet, i think. 3.0 may allow RAW abuse, but it's so fun. |
| primemover00310-24-05, 04:05 PM | You're obviously abusing RAW you haven't read fully... You've always had to have at least a +1 enhamcement bonus on any magic weapon in 3.0 & 3.5... |
| spectralphoenix10-24-05, 04:09 PM | In both 3.0 and 3.5, weapons must be enchanted with a bonus of at least +1 before they can be given special abilities. In 3.5, vorpal only works on a natural 20. In 3.0, it operated on criticals and could be munchkinized all too easily (keen vorpal bladed gauntlet with Improved Critical, anyone?) |
| Mysticaloctopus10-24-05, 04:59 PM | You need a wepon to be +1 before enchanting? Okay, got it now. Like i said, the overabuse is for fun, like 20th level sorceror duels. Prismatic wall above you, polymorph your feet into tree roots, then reverse gravity. something stupid like that. Fun spontaneous things break up monotony mid-campaign. |
| cwslyclgh10-24-05, 07:12 PM | In 3.5, vorpal only works on a natural 20. In 3.0, it operated on criticals and could be munchkinized all too easily (keen vorpal bladed gauntlet with Improved Critical, anyone?) scimitar was better, since the bladed gauntlet had a threat range of 19-20/x2... Companies like WotC put out errata for thier products for a reason, it is sad that so few people bother to check it. |
| Lord Schpungus10-24-05, 11:30 PM | polymorph your feet into tree roots What specific creature is it that is "You with tree roots"? Didn't bother to read Polymorph, either, it seems. |
| Tyler Do'Urden10-24-05, 11:41 PM | What specific creature is it that is "You with tree roots"? Oh yeah, it's a template. With Roots. It's in Lords of Madness. |
| Flay Crimsonwind10-24-05, 11:47 PM | Hmm? i didn't think it had to have an enchantment bonus, just be masterwork. six Throwing returning ranged keen vorpal scimitars on a marilith dervish with improved crit and focus in scimitar, anyone? that'd be six 14-20 crit vorpals to anyone within 100 feet, i think. 3.0 may allow RAW abuse, but it's so fun. Ummm, I could be wrong, but I don't believe that Improved crit and keen stack............. neither does the keen edge spell............ |

| Sluagh10-25-05, 09:42 AM | Fun spontaneous things break up monotony mid-campaign. Roleplaying really breaks up monotony mid-campaign too. Far more effectively too. It's almost like abusing the RAW of personal/social interaction. |
| RegdarW10-26-05, 05:08 PM | +4 keen vorpal falchion, imp crit, weapon master= 10-20 threat range plus head chopping (3.0) :D |
