me an a few friends are having issues understanding how crafting and item creation works
now in the discription of lets say craft wand
spell levelxcasterlevelx750
under that it says you spend 1/2 in raw materials and 1/25 in xp ok so is the formula (lets say were making a fireball at base level

3x5x750=11250/2(for 1/2 in raw mats") 5625/25(forxp)225
or is the formula
3x5x750=11250/25 450

and if the bottom one is correct what is the point in crafting if you are acually spending the same amount of gold to buy the items as you are making plus xp?

and one last question with the ebberon craft feats extraordaniry artisan and the like where it is -25% (and it stacks if taken multiple times) if you take it 3 times is it -75% or -25% three times
someone please put these in lamens turms for me thank you

the formula would be 3(caster level) times 5(caster level) times 750. to this would be added to half of the cost for raw materials (found in spell descriptions) to get the final cost in gp. you would spend xp equal to 1/25 the xp cost listed in spell description. hope this helps:)

ok so your paying DMG prices plus xp? what is the point of making your own things if your gonna pay the full price anyway?

a wand of fireball out of dmg is 11250
and if you are going to make is 11250 plus 450 xp? what is the point?

The base price of a wand is Spell Level * Caster Level * 750. For a Wand of Fireballs this is 11,250gp.

The cost to craft a wand is one half the base price in gp and one 25th of the base price in xp. Thus the cost to craft a wand of Fireballs is 5,650gp and 450xp. It takes 12 days.

The Artisan feats in the Eberron campaign setting may only be taken once each. The statements that you could take them multiple times were in error and have been corrected.

now with the base price of the item being changed now to a lower price would that not become the new base price of the item and you would take the said 5,650gp and devide that by 25 and come out with 226 xp instead of the higher?

and also would i be able to lets say i wanted to make a wand of cure crit wounds..would i be able to put if my caster level as 1 so i get 4d8+1 instead of 4d8+7
so make the formula be 4X1X750 insdead of 4X7X750 in potions it says you set the caster level now does that also work for other magical items like if i wanted to make said wand of cure crit or like if i had craft wonderus items make a cloak that continusly set that off? at (spell level 4Xcasterlevel1X2,000GP)

To simplify:
When you make a magic item yourself, you effectively get it for 1/2 the normal price.

However, to get this deal you must burn XP equal to the normal price/25.

ok so the pricing i understand but!
as stated in brew potion would i be able to applie that to other creation feats and "set the effective caster level" of whatever i am creating to get a lower cost and a weaker version of said spell example

say i wanted to make a coin 'O healing would i be able to put it like so
(cure crit)4X(set caster level to 1 so i only get added +1 out of 15 so)1X1,800gp
so easily visable (im half retarted so i need to see)
4X1X1,800gp=7200 now devide by 2 and devide by 25=3,600gp and 288 xp
is said coin'O healing makeable or do i have to put in base caster level of said spell level

All cost to create and time calculations are made using the base price.

You are required to craft the wand at a caster level that is high enough to allow you to cast the spell stored in the wand. For a 4th level spell this is 7th level.

in potions it says you set the caster levelRead more carefully.

It says you can set the caster level, between a minimum of the level necessary for you to cast the spell and a maximum of your caster level.

now does that also work for other magical items like if i wanted to make said wand of cure critWands work the same way as potions and are subject to the same limitations.

or like if i had craft wonderus items make a cloak that continusly set that off? at (spell level 4Xcasterlevel1X2,000GP)Absolutely impossible. Please see above for why.

so i would be able to make a coin'O healing but i would have to use base caster level for said spell so it would be
4X7X1,800=50400/2and/25 so 25200GP and 2016 xp?

The first rule is "Two items that do the same thing cost the same amount."
The second rule is "If the new item has a similar effect to an existing item but stronger or weaker, scale the price accordingly but have regard to the epic item thresholds when pricing."
The third rule is "If the DM feels that the price calculated using the guidelines is too high or too low, he can finagle the price to pitch the item at a level of play he is happy with.

I'm not sure what you want the item to do. The formula you suggest is for a command-word activation item that will cast the Cure Critical Wounds spell at 7th level on the holder 5 times per day. The costs to create are correctly calculated, assuming nothing else applies.

Speaking personally, a wondrous item that heals is not associated with any body slot. Thus it has to be an unslotted item and the base price doubles, increasing the costs and time to create accordingly (ie the item now costs 100,800 gp or 50,400gp, 4,032 xp and 101 days to create).

Get a wand instead. That's what they're for.

Number 1:
You see first you must figure out the Market Price: Than take 1/2 of that.
Market Price: 11, 250.
Base = 1/2 Market price thus 5, 625. Plus 225 exp.

Base price is crafting price: Market is selling price.

They each reduce crafting price of gold, time, and exp by 25% (if all three taken) you can't take them multiple times.

Remember: Each day must be spent crating for each 1000 K.

Market Price: 11, 250.
Base = 1/2 Market price thus 5, 625. Plus 225 exp.No, no, no, a thousand times no!

The xp cost to craft the item is set off the base price, not the gp amount needed to craft the item. The xp cost of a CL5 wand of Fireballs is 11,250/25 = 450.

Consider the following. What is the xp cost to create a scroll of Magic Missile at CL1?

The base price is 25gp. Thus it costs 25/2 = 12½gp and 25/25 = 1xp.

If the xp cost was based on the gp cost to create then the xp cost of the scroll would be 12½/25 = 0.5xp. Since this would be rounded down as per the standard rules, that means scrolls of any first level spell at CL1 would cost no xp.

That is not the case. The scroll costs 1 xp. Please stop confusing people over this.

ETA : 1,000K is one million. You are saying that magic items take 1 day per million gp of the base price. I know what you meant, but others may not.
