You mean a single crit on next attack?

"Reply Hazy, Try Again"

Well, Limited Wish includes in its effects that you can guarantee a creature hitting on its next attack. so that is necessarily not out of line. Is the extra two spell levels worth potentially quadrupling the damage(as for a scythe?) especially when the person knows that they will hit and so maxes out his power attack? Hard to really gauge when most people just go for "save or die" on spells after 5th level. Probably feasable though I wouldn't guarantee it.

Flat out yes. Hunter's Mercy is a level 1 ranger spell that makes your next hit with a bow a critical. Since you can replicate spells of a certain level and lower (can't remember what level, but definately higher than 4) you can definately wish for an auto critical on your next hit with any weapon, which would probably be on the power level of a level 2 or 3 ranger spell (more versitility).

Yes I mean the next hit. Would it be too powerful if its a vorpal?

An instant kill for 5000 XP? Sure, since you probbaly won't even make back the XP you just spent.

Such a wish would result in a critical hit from a vorpal weapon, not a decapitation, as that is a function dealt with seperately from critical hits (you can vorpal an undead, construct, elemental, etc., it just may or may not actually kill the victim).

Wishing that the next attack roll you make is treated as a natural 20, and that said attack was treated as though it were confirmed, would be an entirely different wish (though likely just as feasible or infeasible since it results in NEARLY the same thing)

Actually it would be very different. A lot of weapons crit on something besides just 20, and 20 is an auto hit. Wishing for two 20 in a row is a bigger wish than next hit crit. Besides, there's the insta-kill two 20 confirm rule and the vorpal weapons to contend with. If I were the DM, I'd know what the player is attacking with and go from there, so as to not overpower wish (yeah, I know) in the hands of someone with a vorpal weapon, as in, make it worth much more xp in the hands of a vorpal wielding guy over a normal weapon saying: "I wish the next two die rolls were 20". Of course, I might just have the nothing happen right away, and the next two times that character rolled a dice in game, the dices would come up "20". Otherwise, it's more powerful than an epic spell which has a save, just a very high one (Memento Morei(sp)).

If you want to be evil. When he wishes for next 2 rolls to be 20s, force a couple of saves before his next attack.

Can you?Yes. Whether the DM will grant this is up to him, but I would under most circumstances.
