Canny Defense and Force-based AC bonuses [Archive] - Wizards Community

This question has most likely been asked numerous times already here, but let me try a different version of it... :)

For Bracers of Armor, by its wording (and normal interpretation) Canny Defense will not work with it since it grants an armor bonus. Possibly the same with the Shield spell as well.

Now, is there a way to justify how a force-based bonus for AC can be treated as a different AC bonus instead?

Alternatively, since the campaign I'm in uses the Defense Bonus and Dodge Rolls, is there a way to plausibly implement magic items that instead grant Defense or Dodge bonuses instead?

Bracers of Armor and Shield grant an armor and shield bonus, so I don't think Canny Defense works with it. They may not have arcane failure chances or Dex limitations, but it's still armor.

The DMG has pricing for multiple kinds of AC. Armor is bonus squared x 1,000. Deflection is Bonus squared x 2,500.

The official price for "Other" is bonus squared x 2,500 gp.

So that is what I would use for a Defense Bonus.
