| Argeon02-17-06, 01:58 PM | Just checking to see I understand the way an item works. A rod of splendor says the possesor of the rod gains +4 enhancement bonus to her charisma as long as she HOLDS or CARRIES the item. So just having it on you (like in a pack) would give u the +4? |

| tarkin02-17-06, 03:45 PM | Basic rule is slotted items must occupy a body slot, unslotted items with the exceptions of use activated items (such as weapons, shields, or tools), need not actually be in hand, but cost x2 A slotted +4 to charisma costs 16,000 gp. Using the WoTC formula, to make a +4 Charisma unslotted item that does not need to be in hand /on your body at all should cost 32,000 gp. The fact that it costs only 25,000 gp strongly implies that it must be in your hand. Otherwise, the item is underpriced by about 7,000 gp. WotC generally does stat item strictly to the formula. So I believe the sceptre must be in hand to provide the benefit. |
