| Asmodeous08-29-05, 03:16 AM | The celestrial armor from the v3.5 dmg is basically a silver of gold suit of chain mail, +3 with user activated fly spell and a maximum of +8 to the dexterity bonus allowed when this armor is worn. Normally chain mail is only allowed +2 dexterity bonus, or +4 if the chain mail is made of mithral. I was wondering what or how is this factored in for pricing the armor? Or, put another way, if I wanted to make a +5 breast plate armor with a maximum of + 8 dexterity bonus, how is it's market price worked out? Thanks for the help! :P |

The best other comparison is the Sun Blade, the way it's a bastard sword but as light and wieldful as a shortsword. And it breaks down to a +2 sword +1 (bane) +2 holy, or a +5 sword, 5^2 * 2000gp = 25,000 gp. So it's shortswordedness and it's sunlight are "freebies". What do the armor and the sword have in common? "Creator must be good". So, what it comes down to, is a very arbitrary call, and a DM that has a feel for celestial/goodness items. That's just the rib about specific items; guesswork. Especially with the armor @ CL 5; Not alot of spells in there that you can say were used, like "freedom of movement" or anything. Best of luck. :) NeueRegel |

It really bodes asking because such a thing would be very powerful. If you could adhoc the celestrial armor to +5 defence enhancement, you have a total of +18 possible defence (assuming character has enough dex) and how about applying the same to a suit of admantium full plate? +5 enhancement and a dexterity cap of say, +6? 19 points of defence possible. Sounds like a good way to further boost your defence, albeit, covered in grated cheeze. |

No he doesn't. The pricing for a magical sword is bonus^2*2000 gp ;) (although he did mess up his math) |

| Tony Vargas08-29-05, 02:02 PM | Celestial Mail is a unique type of item. As a general rule, you shouldn't 'reverse engineer' these items to extract a 'cost' of thier unique functions and then aply it to anything else - at least, you shouldn't if you don't want to create imbalanced items. Likewise, you shouldn't add to or upgrade such items. A MAX-DEX-enhanced suit of full plate, or a +5 suit of Celestial Mail could easily be 'broken' items, for instance. |
