| GeNemesis12-29-04, 01:03 PM | Ok, I've been looking for a new weapon for my rogue and want a reach weapon. Been looking at Bastion Press' Arms and Armor and think I like the chainblade. But, I can't find a picture of it anywhere and I'm having a bit of a problem understanding exactly how it looks. Is it a chain that has small blades or what? Any help is appreciated. |

| Zagan12-29-04, 06:09 PM | maybe the brotherhood of wolves ? ... at the end of this film there was that kind of weapon ;] |
| Nuntius12812-29-04, 06:54 PM | Damn, I want that as a siege weapon. I could have a Gnome engineer who builds one... That'd rule. |
| GeNemesis12-29-04, 08:47 PM | :P Somehow I doubt my pixie rogue will have much luck trying to use that. |
| Edymnion12-29-04, 09:24 PM | Yeah, villian in Brotherhood of the Wolf had one. It was also the weapon of choice for one of the characters in Soul Calibur II. |

As far as I can tell its a mini Chain saw type weapon in a general shape of a longsword and a "techno weapon" using a small motor and battery/power source to run the blade. |
| GeNemesis01-05-05, 07:32 AM | Chain saw in a medieval environment? Good guess, but I finally found a picture and it's more like a metallic whip. But thanks for the help :) |
| digoraccoon01-05-05, 08:39 AM | Chain saw in a medieval environment? Ah, memories of "Army of Darkness". :D "This is my boom stick!" -Ash |
| kam_Islash01-05-05, 12:08 PM | Chain....blade.... what you need are some Sword Chucks. Seriously. Two short swords attached to a chain. Damage, 2d4 (one for the sword one for the nunchaku) +2 in the Whirlwind attack +2 in Intimidate +2 in bluff required feats: deft hands, exotic weapons proficiency, improved evasion Preferable side equipment: a thick leather armlet Untrained sword chuckers must roll a dc 10 reflex save to avoid taking damage to them selves. The DC reflex save for wielding 2 sword chucks at once is 20, so only do this if youre an epic rogue. Without the leather armlet, the user takes 1 hp of damage for every attack because he cuts his own arms. /// |
| The WarOverlord01-05-05, 01:23 PM | Ah, memories of "Army of Darkness". :D "This is my boom stick!" -Ash And there was a campaign called Camelot 2525....or something like that One of those History repeats itself/what comes around come around again thing with most Knights riding Techno horses and only the ones that can afford a real horse has one, guns are still available but swords are more "honorable" and there is "nano-probe" magic with a "Excalibur" class sword being among the most prize cause the Nano-probes and circuitry within in is some of the most advance  |

| The WarOverlord01-05-05, 01:38 PM | Chain saw in a medieval environment? Good guess, but I finally found a picture and it's more like a metallic whip. But thanks for the help :) Why not? They found a device made of metal with multiple knobs and gears also made of metal that was at least 2000 years old and from what they can deduce it was a Greek astronomical computer. http://ccat.sas.upenn.edu/rrice/apagadgt.html http://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~shallit/Courses/134/antik3.gif People who think spaceships, computers and "modern" weapons like guns and rockets only happen in the last 100 years are the ones that can't figure out why their are Pyramids on Mars, Mysterious UFO's flying about, and why the "And the Rockets and Bombs bursting in air" is in the Star Spangle banners (Let alone not knowing the Chinese used rockets in Warfare as well as for entertainment and the Monk that supposedly invented the gun actually only improved on the "zip arrow"/"zip gun" concept)...and this was the 1200's that the monk "invented" the first "modern" gun to hunt ducks using a lead shot instead of a wooden arrow with a plug or pebbles. Likewise Heron made a "wind ball" toy in ancient times that was basically a metal kettle with 2 spouts at opposite ends that was filled with water and then hung over a flame. THe water would boil and the Ancient greeks would ejoy watching the thing whitsle and spin really fast. (cHOOOO-cHOOOO) http://www.dimdima.com/Science/science_common/show_science.asp?q_aid=156&q_title=The+First+Steam+Engine It was said that the device did have limited use in opening temple doors, though My guess woould be that "Water Work" Machines were more likely the norm for such things being that they were around much longer. http://www.hp-gramatke.net/history/english/page0600.htm |
