| Lord Dastir11-21-05, 12:09 PM | A little while ago I saw someone post the stats for a chainmail bikini. Anyone know where this thread is? |
| theAlastorian11-21-05, 03:00 PM | The deepest pits of hell, perhaps? Statting a chainmail bikini is, I think, the stupidest idea I have ever heard. What? Would it give you a circumstance bonus to sexual assault? Come on, guys, let's be serious here. |
| Lord Dastir11-21-05, 04:42 PM | Wow... Such a violently opposed response. When did the lightheartedness of D&D dissapear? I'ts a game... It's only as serious as you make it... Lighten up... Anyone with a useful response? |
| pres_man11-21-05, 04:49 PM | Use the stats for a chain shirt. |
| Alienfreak11-21-05, 05:02 PM | AC: Chainshirt -1 Special: Inherent -4 on the wearers Intelligence |
| Trakx11-21-05, 06:15 PM | I've heard of it before as a joke, though wherever I heard it they gave real stats. pres_man called it, though - I would use the same stats as a chain shirt. It would certainly count as light armor, if not less than light. Personally, I think it should give a Charisma bonus to AC. ;) ...or your opponents are concidered flat-footed. ...or a bonus on grapple checks. Especially with oil. And if you're trying to grapple a female opponent. |
| Gnarl11-21-05, 06:23 PM | Did you ever think about making some chain mail thongs? ;D |
| Alienfreak11-21-05, 06:24 PM | Okay ... -4 Int & -4 Wis |
| Bob the Great11-21-05, 06:51 PM | The stats in the thread looked like this: AC: + 1 Max Dex: + 8 Armor check penalty: -1 or 0 My memory is way to good. |
| pres_man11-21-05, 07:59 PM | Personally, I think it should give a Charisma bonus to AC. ;) ...or your opponents are concidered flat-footed. ...or a bonus on grapple checks. Especially with oil. And if you're trying to grapple a female opponent. Great, now I'll have a 350 lbs female half-orc, looking like Jabba, trying to get a charisma bonus. :P Everybody forgets there are ugly people out there as well, and nobody wants to see them in thongs and bikinis. |
| Drab Emordnilap11-21-05, 08:12 PM | Great, now I'll have a 350 lbs female half-orc, looking like Jabba, trying to get a charisma bonus. :P Everybody forgets there are ugly people out there as well, and nobody wants to see them in thongs and bikinis.Ugly is relative, my friend. |
| shift24411-21-05, 08:18 PM | Ok... maybe it doubles the CHA bonuses (or penalties) for certain CHA based checks. :D Triple if she also happens to be weilding a weapon 3 times her size... and incidentally, it also grants a bonus feat that allows her to weild larger weapons without taking any attack penalties. |
| Wyrd Bearer11-21-05, 09:41 PM | Chainmail bikini, eh? Where's my corresponding chain banana hammock? |
| Draco Strang11-21-05, 10:09 PM | Chainmail bikini, eh? Where's my corresponding chain banana hammock? Uncalled for. Simply uncalled for. I'm gonna go clean the gore out of my eyesockets now. |
| Number One Tira Groupie11-21-05, 10:17 PM | We live in a darker time now. A time where the mere mention of a bulge in a man's pants drives other men to great anger and disgust. I'm not sure who to blame really. Is this the homophobes fault? The meterosexuals? The feminists? Considering that the porn industry still takes in more money than professional sports, I think we're safe, though, in a world that WILL NOT stop showing us all the male buldge we could ever ask for. Wishing you a happy afterglow, Deshawn Williams The Number One Tira Groupie |
| Waterhammer11-21-05, 11:18 PM | All the way back on pg. 11. Forgotten but not gone....Yet. Shameless self promotion? Naah, the other posts in thread are the funny. |
| Draco Strang11-21-05, 11:50 PM | A time where the mere mention of a bulge in a man's pants drives other men to great anger and disgust. There's a time and a place for "bulge". Namely, that old SNL skit with Will Ferrel wearing the USA thong on casual Fridays at the office. Good times, good times. |
| roetroc11-21-05, 11:52 PM | Hmm considering how little it covers and that there would be no padding underneath, I would consider it to be basically useless. To get even +1 there should be at least some type of padding underneath, effectively making it a chainmail nappy/diaper. |
| syrinth11-21-05, 11:55 PM | Well, since you've asked. Here it is. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=531324) |
| Moon-Lancer11-22-05, 12:12 AM | i would say its just a chain shirt. Really..... the imagination shouldent be punished. Fantasy game...hello? |
| The WarOverlord11-22-05, 12:28 AM | A little while ago I saw someone post the stats for a chainmail bikini. Anyone know where this thread is? For practical reasons Female PC and NPC Adventures shouldn't wear skimpy armor on the grounds the PCs like mine will make called shots to all the exposed joints and open areas with a Halberd, Great Axe, Two handed Sword, Sword of Sharpness, Vorpal Sword, and the like. Challenger with a metal Bikini? Called shot to swipe the knees with my 2 handed Axe please...or better yet a Scythe of Doom right across that mid-section like that "Interview with a Vampire" maneuver that made the guy 1/2 the man he was :P |
| astatine11-22-05, 02:02 AM | What a bunch of PUNishment... :heehee Seriously though... bracers of armor (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm%23bracersofArmor) provide about as useful of physical coverage as a chainmail two-piece, but still work reasonably well bar antimagic issues. Why not treat it as such? I wouldn't consider it to be out of slot affinity either since it's an armor bonus in the armor slot. Why the bracers' were designed around mage armor (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/mageArmor.htm) instead of shield (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/shield.htm) is left as an exercise to the crafter. |
| DreadWizardDM11-22-05, 03:42 AM | You are the DM, make it whatever you like. But I would give it at least chain shirt just for kicks. Hell I would probably give it some unique property just for flavor and game humor. Anyone that whines about stuff like that is a politically correct dork. Message of the day... young padawans please do not crybaby or mealy mouth about offensive words or ideas and keep yer little traps shut. Sincerely; Old School |

This topic could POSSIBLY have at least SOME merit, my friend. Imagine some crimelord or whatnot who loves being surrounded by scantily clad women, so much so that he even wants his guards (all female) to wear chainmail bikinis and short leather-strap skirts. Now I know what yer thinking, and I'll head you off right here by saying "NO, I don't think that that skimpy armor should provide a standard AC bonus". I DO, though, like astatine's idea about simply making it a Chainmail Bikini of Armor (instead of Bracers of Armor) and enchanting it thus. These scanitly clad guards could then have some kind of armor bonus making them more formidable AND possibly lulling an aggressor into a false sense of security, by making him think that they're there just for show. These female guards might have Chainmail Bikinis of Armor +4 with a Force Shield ring (or possibly a magic buckler) and a good Dex, giving them an AC of from 17 and on up...not bad against an opponent like The WarOverlord who would mistake them for being completely vulnerable. ;) |

| bondious11-22-05, 01:09 PM | Glamoured fullplate can acheive the same effect... Yeah, but if that perv of a crimelord wants to cop a feel on one of his guards then he'd only get a hand full of metal plate, huh? :weep: For simple appearance, though, you'd be very correct. ;) |
| theAlastorian11-22-05, 01:28 PM | Okay, begrudgingly I'll rescind my ire. For some reason that circumstance didn't occur to me. And I shall apologize for my behavior. To all, I'm sorry for jumping down people's throats. |
| Vestigial_Thumb11-22-05, 01:46 PM | Isn't that Elemental Savant in CA wearing a chainmail... well, maybe not bikini, but she's showing a considerable amount of cleavage. |
| Vestigial_Thumb11-22-05, 01:48 PM | Shake dat arcane powah! http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/ca_gallery/85434.jpg |
| Draco Strang11-22-05, 02:24 PM | Isn't that Elemental Savant in CA wearing a chainmail... well, maybe not bikini, but she's showing a considerable amount of cleavage. What a hot elf-babe. Ok....I just lost about 300 cool points. |
| bondious11-22-05, 03:28 PM | What a hot elf-babe. Ok....I just lost about 300 cool points. Yes...you did. It's okay, though, because I'm sure that nobody's keeping track. :D Man, I'm not sure, but that LOOKS LIKE an Elven Chain Shirt that's one size TOO SMALL. Wonder what the AC bonus is? |
| Cathon11-22-05, 08:53 PM | Personally I'd stat a chainmail bikini as follows Armor: Light AC: +0 Max Dex Bonus: No maximum Arcane Spell Failure: +5% Weight: 2 lbs Primary benefit, you can enchant it as armor and it takes up an armor slot rather than a bracer slot. Primary reason for giving it an arcane spell failure is so there is still a reason for having bracers of armor in the game, and because it is still a hunk of metal hanging off of you that could distract you during spell casting. This is actual bikini sized armor, stuff that actually covers a more significant portion of the body might have some actual armor benefit but would increase the penalties as well. |

Secondary benefit; make it out of a special material. Adamantine chainmail bikini would give damage reduction 1, low, but may be useful. Mithril chainmail bikini would eliminate the spell failure. Silver chainmail bikini, take it off to effectively stun certain sentient male undead before you wollop them with it. Nastification. |
| Leach11-23-05, 10:48 AM | Pish-posh! Haven't any of you watched B-fantasy movies? Chainmail bikinies don't give armor bonuses, they give deflection bonuses (probably equal to the Charisma modifier). That's why all those warrior women never get hit. As to why you never see a male version of these: simple. All chainmail bikinis are actually a variant on the belt of masculinity and femininity, so that any male attempting to wear one is instantly transformed into a female. (The reverse, however, is not true.) That's how it really is. Promise. :D |
| Trance Kuja11-23-05, 12:12 PM | For my next barbarian I'm making a spiked codpiece of armor +6 and enchanting the spikes with shocking. I shall rage and pelvic thrust my way to victory! :evillaugh |
| Someone11-24-05, 01:17 AM | For my next barbarian I'm making a spiked codpiece of armor +6 and enchanting the spikes with shocking. I shall rage and pelvic thrust my way to victory! :evillaughAnd then when your opponent sunders your "weapon"... |
| IceFractal11-24-05, 05:33 AM | Just go with Glamered Armor, it can be a Chain Shirt, Breastplate, or even Full Plate, but it will still look like a Chainmail Bikini. :D I really shouldn't even think this evil - but what about a Lich who uses illusions to make herself look like an Elf babe in a chainmail bikini - but is actually: * Undead, with a paralyzing touch * Wearing spiked armor * Covered in poison (not a problem for the undead) So she poses as someone captured by the lich and goes to give a hug to her "rescuers". |
| scienceman4711-24-05, 05:08 PM | You will need something under that bikini, at least for any sort of bonus. people back in the day wore leather and such under their chainmail so that if the rings were broken with a strike the sharp metal hooks that chainmail becomes when its destroyed with a weapon wouldnt lodge itself into the wearers skin. I mourn for the victim of this kind of chainmail abuse. |
