| BenSan01-09-07, 06:12 PM | I vaguely recall a magical item that would change on activation into a normal (possibly masterwork or low-enchantment, not sure) version of any weapon the character was familiar with. Did I imagine this item? I could start digging through every sourcebook I own to find it, but if anyone here remembers it that's obviously much better for me, and as I said I'm not even sure it existed. (No, it's not a Rod of Lordly Might - much less powerful.) If it doesn't already exist, I'm not sure how to even begin pricing such an item, so thoughts on that would also be appreciated. |

| BenSan01-09-07, 08:58 PM | Morphing looks good, but how would you recommend one be priced that didn't have the light/one-hand/two-hand restriction? (To me, that restriction actually seems a little silly.) |
| Lunas_Argent01-09-07, 11:11 PM | Are you thinking of the Morning Star of the Many? The morningstar can change through six different weapons in a six round period. |
| BenSan01-10-07, 12:37 PM | Well, I'm still not sure what I was originally thinking of, but I looked at Underdark and across the page is a unique weapon among whose abilities is "turning into any weapon". I reverse-engineered it to try to figure out what the price for that would be, and it came out identical to regular Morphing. (The weapon is a longsword with +5 worth of bonuses including Morphing, and it is priced exactly as a regular +5 longsword.) So, armed with that knowledge I'm going to suggest that Morphing without that odd restriction cost the same. |
| RavenDrake01-10-07, 06:15 PM | I've ruled that morphing can allow the weapon to assume a smaller size, but that the weapon can not assume a larger size(ie, a Medium morphing Longsword can become any medium one-handed or light weapon, or any small or smaller weapon(or a Large light weapon) but it could not become medium Two-handed weapon. But that's a personal ruleing. |
| StevenO01-11-07, 03:39 PM | My pricing guideline: +1 Morphing: Action ??? - May change to any weapon of the same size and class (small-medium, light-onehanded-twohanded-double) +2 Greater Morphing: Standard action - weapon morphs into any other weapon. The first in basically allowing a character access to special maneuvers and a variety of damage types without much change to damage potential. The Greater version allows more variety including a large variation on possible damage output. |
