Charge by itself doesn't provoke an attack of opportunity.
However, the movement might (thus Ogres, reach weapons, etc) can reach far enough that you might provoke at 10 feet )but not at 5.

Not sure exactly why 10 feet can if reach.

Yes, because you have to leave the square ten feet from your target in order to attack him from the square five feet from him.

When charging someone who has a reach weapon, be sure you're using a reach weapon of your own. You might also see if you can talk a friend into provoking an attack of opportunity from your target first. If your target only gets to make one attack of opportunity, the way would then be safe for you.
