| Squaba03-18-06, 10:08 PM | Pretty simple, A paladin has a Pegasus mount. He wants to swoop down (charge) knock an opponent over, and deal trample damage. I said yes it's feasible, the mount kicks the guy in the face as the charge and trample; knocking him flat as part of the overrun. We accounted in the distance traveled flying down as well as the distance flying over so that he didn't exceed his movement (120 while flying.) The DM said no; "A flying mount cant overrun because it isn’t on the ground to make so it doesn’t have the leverage." We got in to a small argument but I don't like to argue with the DM so we let it slide, latter he agreed that we would ask the forums and go by their ruling. So what do you guys think? I don’t see this as any kind of epic raping of the rules or anything, mostly cool flavor text, but I guess there might be some other opinions. |

IMO overrun is based on momentum and there is nothing in the description of the action to say you need to be in contact with the ground to do it; flying is a type of movement as as long as you follow the rules for overrun (move through your targets square) I'd have no problem with it. If I was hit by a flying horse I'd say there would be a chance it'd knock me outta the way  What if you were levitating or also flying? Could it work then? So yer I agree with you, however this still remains the discretion of your DM ;) |
