I assume this includes a surprise round and I assume this includes a melee attack at the end of the charge? Is my understanding correct so far? Bull rush can be made as part of a charge. This includes the special kind of charge that you can perform when you have a standard action right? If my understanding of the above is correct, then I see a pretty good niche tactic. The niche requires that you have a rogue in your party and that you are in a surprise round. 1. Fighter lets the rogue move first by delaying his move until after the rogue. 2. Rogue moves adjacent to target. Positioning is important as will be seen. If rogue can move to the target by charging and attacking instead of just a move attack, that might be a good option. 3. During the fighter's turn he bull rushes the target so that both the fighter and the target move adjacent to the rogue. The rogue gets an AoO. The rogue may have a 25% chance of hitting his fighter friend, but it won't be a sneak attack since the fighter friend is not flatfooted. If the rogue hits the target, the target is flatfooted and the rogue does sneak attack damage during the surprise round. 4. Ideally the fighter continues with the bull rush so that the enemy is pushed out of reach of making a full attack against the rogue. So there you go. I think this is a valid tactic that wouldn't come up much, but could be cool when it did. |
