If I am charged by an opponent, I receive an attack of opportunity for my Hold the Line feat. Since I have a 10' reach with the chain and the charger had to leave one of my threatened squares, do I receive another attack on them? The charge action and the movement would be seperate AoO circumstances, so each would provoke a different attack. With my combat reflexes I could take both. However, charge actions do not normally provoke attacks of opportunity. It says 'no' in the PHB. I have been told by others that it still counts as normal movement, and I would get my Attack of Opportunity against an opponent who charges me. Which is correct? Do I get two attacks, or just the one provoked by Hold the Line as I am thinking? |

If you have a reach weapon, do not have Hold the Line feat, and someone charges that does not have reach, you get a single AoO against them. ------------------ HOWEVER, you now have the question: "Does the Hold the Line AoO count as a movement based AoO". It is definitely caused by movement. In my opinion: Strict / Loose Game: You only get one AoO based on movement, period. Power Game / Anything Goes Game: The 1 AoO for movement only refers to AoO's caused my exit a threatened square, not that caused by Hold the Line or other such feats. |
