Hidden Blade Exotic Light 1d4 piercing 19-20/x3 20 gp The Hidden Blade is a daggerlike blade attached to a bracer. With a swift action , the wielder may pull a trigger-ring on his or her pinky, releasing the blade. It can be stowed with a similar movement, as a free action. Due to the Hidden Blade's unique bracer design, it cannot be disarmed. Donning or removing the hidden blade is a full round action that provokes an attack of opportunity. What do you guys think? As with my other homebrew weapons, I'm not sure about the price. Any other ideas to mimic our newest favorite monster of a game? |

It doesn't matter how low the base damage is, the effect of the multiplier on your Str and other bonuses makes it too powerful. Make it 18-20/x2 with the same quick-draw ability and you're good to go. |
| TheGeek04-28-08, 10:24 PM | I wouldn't say it's never balanced, otherwise DMs all over would be banning +1 keen punching daggers. Though you do have a point--I'm not sure it equals x5, but that was the one point I was really worried about. Anyone else have thoughts before I edit? Edit: How about treating it as one-handed for the purposes of power attack? He does punch people pretty hard with it.. |
| Sinfire Titan04-28-08, 11:30 PM | How's about you just use the all ready existing Sleeve Blade from Complete Scoundrel? All Altiar did was enchant the unholy hell out of his. |
| dman1123504-29-08, 12:05 AM | Yeah, 19-20x3 is never balanced. There was a whole essay on it somewhere. Don't ask me to find it though. And I like SiFir's suggestion. |

As with my other homebrew weapons, I'm not sure about the price. -15%(Light)-5%(Exotic)+10%(1d4)+10%(20x3 OR 19-20x2)+5%(hidden)+5%(disarm) = 110% So you need to shave 10% off the item for it to be legal. Here are examples: Make it 20x2 1d3 from 20x3 1d4 ---------- Make it 1d2 from 1d4 ---------- Make it 1d3 from 1d4 and require it to be magical (+1 or more) and price hidden at the MIC rate of calling armour price. ---------- In short, mundane items can not be balanced by price. So your 20gp is fine. http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=694416 I wouldn't say it's never balanced, I'm not sure it equals x5, Make it one handed for power attack It is never balanced and it does equal x5. One handed for power attack is at least a +1 magical enhancement. |

Edit: How about treating it as one-handed for the purposes of power attack? He does punch people pretty hard with it.. If you're talking about how hard he punches people with it, why not just treat it as an unarmed attack? How about this: ILOVEASSASSINSCREEDWITHEVERYPARTOFMYBODY INCLUDINGMYPEEPEE [Fighter] Prerequisite: Quickdraw, Sleight of Hand 4 Ranks Benefit: You gain proficiency with the [Insert Weapon's Name Here]. You may draw or sheathe [it] as a free action. When you make an attack with [it], treat [it] like an unarmed strike, except that it deals lethal, piercing damage. Special: [It] does not make your unarmed strike an "armed" unarmed strike. If you do not have Improved Unarmed Strike, you still provoke an attack of opportunity for attacking with [it]. |
