I've heard of chitin armor that is +4 AC with at least 3 allowable dex bonus. I can't for the life of me figure out what book this is from and how much it costs. Thanks!

Sounds like what you want is a Breastplate with a different name. See your PHB.

the key is that it's made out of chitin and not metal (and therefore usable by a druid) :) that's why I'm wondering.

Chitin Armor, Secrets of Xen'drik. The Chitin Breastplate is +4 AC/+4 Dex, which makes it suck. Battle Chitin and Chiting Armor are good, Chitin Breastplate is ok as long as you have 18 Dex. Dreamhide, however, is awesome. Light armor, made of snake, +4 AC/+5 max dex.

I think it can also be found in the races of faerun? It's like a chain shirt, but medium armour, think the only draw is that druids can wear it.

and in the arms and equipment guide, and in races of the dragon.

And in Stormwrack.. and I think Races of the Wild..

It's a popular material, evidently..

I bet I know why, too.. So you can have a character who's catchphrase is "I've got crabs!"...
Sorry. Had to be said.
