This is probably really simple to answer, but I just want to be clear on it. The other night while playing a PC remarked that his DR 5/Good and Piercing meant that he took 5 points of damage off from good and piercing weapons. I replied that it was the other way around, only good and piercing weapons went completely through his DR. He said ok and we went on our way. The other day I was reading the planay handbook and looking at the races when I came across the spiker, whose DR is something and bludgeoning. It thens says that only peircing and slashing weapons do full damage. What's the deal here, is this a misprint or is their something I am missing? Help.

That's a misprint.

Damage reduction is written as X/something, meaning that physical attacks all have their damage reduced by X, to a minimum of zero, unless the weapon is made out of something. 5/good means all physical attacks have their damage reduced by 5 unless they're made with a good-aligned weapon. 10/magic and good means that damage is reduced by 10 unless the weapon is both magic and good-aligned. 10/good or silver means that damage is reduced by 10 unless the weapon is either good-aligned or silver or both.

Energy damage (including mundane fire) and damage from spells and powers are not subject to damage reduction.
