Claw styled Gauntlets? [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-26-05, 10:02 PM My human fighter/cleric dropped the other night and as chance had it, was able to be reincarnated, and was lucky enough to come back as a human, but has come back as female rather than male. This doesn't really bother me because it works right into the campaign and is going to be fun to play :D Anyways the characters name is Talyn, and my wife suggested because of namesake. that she should get some claw styled gauntlets to use like a birds talon, and I thought that is a great idea. Why gauntlet instead of glove, well thats because she wears a suit of full-plate :)

Now this was going to be basically a role playing thing because her weapon of choice is still the greatsword, and the gauntlets would be a thing she would use when not in combat situations, but used for intimidation factors (primary skill). So I was thinking of just using a spiked gauntlet for this, but speaking to my DM about making it slashing instead of pericing, but still works for piercing, but I was wondering in the meantime if anyone knows of a specific gauntlet or weapon that is like this instead, doesn't matter if its an exoctic or magic.

I know there are some other gauntlets that have blades or claws on the top of the gauntlet, but I'm after something where the end of the fingers are like claws (like any monster such as a lizard man, or animal like a bird , or spell like bear claws would).

06-26-05, 10:07 PM Tiger's Claws have the same stat as scimitar's except for being a light weapon. [Silver Marches]
Bladed Gaunglets have the same stat as shortsword's. [Arms & Equipment Guide]

06-27-05, 01:39 AM Tiger's Claw seems interesting. Do you know of a link to a picture or description of it?

06-27-05, 03:02 AM It's kind of a brass knuckle with three curved blades protruding from the part covering the back of the hand.

06-27-05, 11:29 AM There are also Claws of the Leopard from Complete Adventurer. The illustration looks pretty cool.

06-27-05, 01:14 PM Beast Claws from Savage Species are +1 Spiked Gauntlets that sport claws at the tips of the fingers. Lets the user make claw attacks for 1d4 X2 slashing.

And they get better if you already have natural claw attacks.

06-27-05, 01:58 PM I would run a bladed gauntlet, just say that it looks differnt then the pic in the A&EG, it looks like claws instead of a gauntlet is blades coming off it

06-27-05, 09:00 PM Don't know what level you're at, but there are some clawed gauntlets near the back of the Arms and Equipment Guide that look like large cat paws, and grant you the Pounce ability, as per a leopard/tiger.

I also remember that Complete Divine has a relic called Gauntlets of the Blood Lord as well, though I doubt I will be getting those ;)

Now another quick question, which hand should she have it on? (she is right handed)

06-28-05, 06:32 PM Desselia, has a pair of demon gauntlets that act as claws, but I don't know your alignment, so if your good and you probably are then you don't want these I do hope your search goes well

06-28-05, 06:41 PM maybe her left so if she fights with a one handed weapon she can get two attacks but you would loose the great sword

06-28-05, 10:50 PM Lawful Neutral is her alignment, and because of that she has been wearing some evil looking armour without an issue :)

In Warhammer 40000, they have powerfists and they always seem to be on the left hand. I'll have a think how that will work.
