| Neopopulas03-06-06, 03:54 AM | Awhile ago i saw a post here about monk flurry and natural weapons, but i cannot find it. Basically i was wondering how it works. A weretiger i am looking at has natural weapons, either; Single Claw (1d8+strength) and Bite (1d6+half strength) or Two Claws and a Bite at -5 with a full attack bonus. or Attack with a weapon and a claw as a light offhand weapon. My question is that, with a monk flurrying with 'unarmed attacks' does that mean that he can also attack with his natural weapons, or does he have to choose one or the other? |
| runestar03-06-06, 04:19 AM | Normal unarmed attacks+flurry as primary attack, all natural weapons as secondary attacks. :) |
| babysamurai03-06-06, 04:26 AM | Yes, a Monk can attack with all of its natural attacks in addition to its flurry attacks in a Full Round action. 1st level Thri-Kreen Monk with a 10 Str as an example: Standard action/attack: Unarmed strike +0 Full attack: Flurry of blows -2/-2 Full attack: Flurry of blows -2/-2 and 4 claws -7 and bite -7. Got it? |

Well, the penalties for Flurry will go down to -1 (at 5th?), and 0 at 11th level Monk. As for feats - this is really horrible; make a Thri-kreen Monk with Multi-Weapon Fighting, then you will be able to stack Flurry with MWF and your 5 natural attacks. So, a 20th level Thri-Kreen Monk with Greater Multi-Weapon Fighting will get 19 attacks per round. Full attack: Flurry of blows +13/+13/+13/+18/+3 and unarmed strike +13/+8/+3 and unarmed strike +13/+8/+3 and unarmed strike +13/+8/+3 and 4 claws +10 and bite +10. ...I love it... |
| Rulebook03-06-06, 03:04 PM | well theres a strong arguement to be made for Multiattack over MWF for this... you lose a few attacks, but have all the secondaries at -2! |
| Neopopulas03-09-06, 01:28 AM | From how i read it, i couldnt use Multi Weapon Fighting anyway. Natural attacks, i don't think, count. You need 'three or more hands' because, well, you're supposed to be holding weapons. Where as Multiattack reduces the penalty for natural attacks. and doesnt imply actual weapons |

Is that really legal? |

Excuse me... what I meant to say was, you need to recheck your math on that subject. Even baring the fact that your use of unarmed strikes might mean(depending on your dm) that your claw attacks are not available, you cannot mix an iterative attack routine AND natural weapons if the limbs tied to the natural weapons are being used in the iterative attack routine. Namely, if you claim to be using your extra arms for your "unarmed strikes"(which I have issues with anyway, but I digress) you can't claim to be able to use them for the claw attacks as well. And, even with that aside, multiweapon fighting does not apply to unarmed strikes to the best of my knowledge. *IF* your DM was kind enough to say that you could make your monk unarmed attack routine without using your claws, the best you could hope for is: Flurry: +15/+15/+15/+10/+5 Plus 4 Claws at +10 Plus Bite +10. Or Flurry: +13/+13/+13/+8/+3 Plus +13/+8/+3 with each off hand Plus 1 bite at +8 |

So their claws and bite are still available in a full attack. Monks are allowed to stack TWF with Flurry, so of course a Monk with more than 2 arms can stack MWF with Flurry. ...have fun! |
