The creature must make a Climb check to climb any wall or slope with a DC of more than 0, but it always can choose to take 10 even if rushed or threatened while climbing. Even though it doesn't mention your scenario specifically, the rules seem pretty emphatic that a creature with a Climb speed can take 10 on their check no matter what. |

A creature with a climb speed can take ten to get an 18 (plus ranks), so any surface with less than that as a DC will be rough enough that the creature can keep hold while attacking, even upside down. If you want to represent an extremely smooth or slick surface, raise the DC. Eventually it will get high enough that the creature cannot beat it by taking ten, and that represents a surface that's too difficult to hold on to. |
