Item description:
Basically, once/day use an immediate action to generate resistance to energy 10, which can be done in response to an attack. Costs 100 gp.

Now my question is how long does the thing last? Does it operate as the spell resistance versus energy, or does it only last the turn, or somewhere inbetween?

12-09-06, 11:20 PM It's used in response to an attack, so I'm gonna assume it lasts until the end of the afforementioned attack.

I am sure, however, that it would not "operate as the spell resistance versus energy" but rather as energy resistance does, similar to damage reduction.

RESISTANCE TO ENERGY
A creature with resistance to energy has the ability (usually extraordinary) to ignore some damage of a certain type each round, but it does not have total immunity.

Each resistance ability is defined by what energy type it resists and how many points of damage are resisted. It doesn’t matter whether the damage has a mundane or magical source.

When resistance completely negates the damage from an energy attack, the attack does not disrupt a spell. This resistance does not stack with the resistance that a spell might provide.

Cloak of Elemental Protection
"This cloak, woven with threads of various colors, protects the wearer from energy attacks. Once per day, as a swift action, the wearer can activate the cloak and gain resistance 10 against a type of energy of the wearer's choice (acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic). The wearer can activate the cloak when it is not his turn. The wearer therefore can respond to an energy attack by immediately activating the cloak and choosing the attack's energy type. "

Given the cost of the thing, I do tend to lean towards the one turn theory.

1) It costs 1,000 gp, not 100 gp.
2) It lasts 30 minutes a day.
3) It requires 24 hours to attune to the wearer before it can be used.
