Cloaker as a cloak [Archive] - Wizards Community

This thought was inspired by the cloaker illustration the other day. If you ignore the fact that they are self-aware aberrations, what do you think about a cloaker being used as an actual cloak?

The stuff you could do:

Fly - It could carry you places.

Tail Attack - It could surprise your enemies with tail attacks (possibly helping you with the Expert Tactician feat).

Engulf - It would absorb half of your damage.

Look out - It has good Spot and Listen checks and has darkvision.

The stuff I wish you could do:

Moan - If there were a way of protecting the wearer from various moan effects....

Shadow Shift - If the cloaker's shadowy abilities included you....

What if the wearer had some sort of Improved Familiar/Symbiosis style feat, then the wearer could benfit/have immunity from those things. What do you think the level requirements on something like that would be?

Thoughts?

Having a live cloaker as an actual Cloak could be more of an inconvenience. That is, unless you could withstand 100lbs of "equipment" just from the cloaker.

And as an Improved Familiar, not sure if that's possible, since there haven't been any Improved Familiar that I have seen larger than small size in the Improved Familiar sidebar in the DM guide. Perhaps as a cohort?
