| Kamcer08-31-06, 12:42 PM | I googled this but couldn't find anything, I could of sworn somewhere in the PHB(atleast in 3.0) it said not only did you get one set of cloths free, they didn't count towards your carry capacity. Did I just make this up or is it really in there somewhere? |
| Someone08-31-06, 12:49 PM | Correct, the clothes on the PCs back don't count twoards weight. However, if the PCs were to try and carry a hundred sets of clothes, that would weigh them down a bit. (not to mention the whole bulk of a hundred pairs of pants). Though there are probably some situations (swimming, for example) where heavy, bulky clothes is a bad thing, to the point it affects game mechanics. |

Pick any one of the following clothing outfits: artisan’s outfit, entertainer’s outfit, explorer’s outfit, monk’s outfit, peasant’s outfit, scholar’s outfit, or traveler’s outfit. I only found this in the SRD, but the first set of clothes don't count against your carring capacity. Page 131 of the PHB (3.5) under Clothing has the info you want. |
| Kamcer08-31-06, 01:57 PM | Thanks! Gearing up a 10 Str rogue is alot of math. I didn't want to weigh him down with smuggler's boots and an explore's outfit then encumber him with leather armor. |

The difference is, as Someone and steventirey1985 said, the original set does not count against your encumbrance totals. |

But the point stands: You don't need to struggle against the weight of the stuff you're wearing. |
