| leah strongheart12-07-04, 10:41 PM | I love the clouting weapon enhancement (p. 143) in Complete Arcane. However, so many times in movies and novels a person naturally gets wacked by a troll club or some other form of malicious attack and ends up flying into a wall. I loved the dragons in BG II when their breath weapons kicked everybody in the party on their arse and blew them all half way across the chamber. That's power!!! What rules are out there that would fairly handle blasting a party member out of his cute little 5' x 5' combat square and into the nearest wall. It could make combat with the biggies a little more realistic and entertaining. - a curious DM |
| DemonMonkeyBoy12-08-04, 03:57 AM | :b: There is this feat found in the MM 3.5 AWESOME BLOW [GENERAL, FIGHTER] Prerequisites: Str 25, Power Attack, Improved Bull Rush, size Large or larger. Benefit: As a standard action, the creature may choose to subtract 4 from its melee attack roll and deliver an awesome blow. If the creature hits a corporeal opponent smaller than itself with an awesome blow, its opponent must succeed on a Reflex save (DC = damage dealt) or be knocked flying 10 feet in a direction of the attacking creature’s choice and fall prone. The attacking creature can only push the opponent in a straight line, and the opponent can’t move closer to the attacking creature than the square it started in. If an obstacle prevents the completion of the opponent’s move, the opponent and the obstacle each take 1d6 points of damage, and the opponent stops in the space adjacent to the obstacle. And another call Large and Incharge (I think thats right) it can be found in the sword and fist book. it in a side bar in the combat section. Can't remeber the page. |

| The Mailman12-08-04, 03:28 PM | Large and in Charge was reprinted and updated in the Dracanomicon. It works more like Standstill than it does Awesome Blow though. There's also the Telekinesis spell and the Telekinetic Maneuver power, which allow for either bull rushing out of a square or throwing a character. There's also the Knockback weapon ability. It started out in S&F very similar to Clouting, but in Complete Warrior (I think?) it became only applicable to ranged weapons. I've also got a feat of my own that expends psionic focus to knock a target back 10ft and do +1d6 dmg. (not that that really helps :D ) |
