| runestar02-24-07, 10:24 PM | There is one such precedent in PGTF, where this battleaxe had half its head made of adamantine and the other half made of cold iron. This allowed you to overcome either dr with the same weapon by striking with the appropriate head (but not both at the same time, so dr/adamantine and cold iron can still stymie you). I suppose such a combination could be extended to other weapons...though I would still not allow them to overcome both dr simultaneously. Just one at a time. |

If I were to allow this I would probably say that half the damage came from each source, so if something had DR5/ silver, for example, then half the damage would be clear, but another half would come from the bludgeoning part and be subject to DR. The same would also have to apply to damage type DR, though, so something with DR/ piercing would use the same ruling. Since doing that seems unwieldy to me, I would probably forget about that, not allow it universally, but possibly include a unique magic morningstar with this (or a similar) configuration and call it all good. Isn't there an enhancement or special material that you can get that lets a weapon bypass any material DR, though? I think I have seen the term "Metalline" thrown around here some. If this is the case, and I allowed that, then this just seems needlessly complex. |
